After working mainly in China in recent years, former Baby VOX idol Kan Mi Youn returns to K-pop with her new mini album Watch. Last year, she collaborated with MBLAQ's Mir on the digital single "Crazy", included on this album. Now she's teamed up with 2PM's Jun Su for the advance track Sunshine. Jun Su not only duets with Mi Youn, he actually composed the song as well. Shinhwa's Eric, meanwhile, features in the sweet main track "Paparazzi", although it's SS501's Kim Hyung Jun who co-stars with Mi Youn in the song's music video!

강한 중독성 있는 멜로디의 타이틀 곡 [파파라치 feat.에릭]
대부분의 사람들은 간미연에게 슬픈 감성의 발라드 곡을 기대할 것이다. 하지만 이 앨범의 프로듀서인 국내 최고의 히트메이커 프로듀서 방시혁은 “간미연은 발라드 보단 댄스음악이 더 어울리는 목소리를 가지고 있는 가수다.” 라고 말하며 과감하게 그런 의견을 간미연의 전작 ‘미쳐가’에서 날려버렸다.
이번 앨범의 타이틀곡 ‘파파라치’는 강한 중독성 있는 멜로디의 댄스음악을 만들었던 국내 최고의 작곡가 방시혁 표 댄스 곡이다. ‘파파라치’는 레트로 사운드의 신디사이져와 통통 튀는 비트가 어울어진 새로운 느낌의 ‘POP DANCE’ 곡이다. 자신이 좋아하는 남자에 대한 마음을 파파라치에 비유하여 반복적이고 귀여운 느낌 가사로 표현하였다. 또한 소집해제 이후 활발한 활동을 보이고 있는 신화의 에릭이 직접 작사를 하며 참여한 감각적인 랩은 곡의 브릿지 부분의 힙합비트에서 마치 ‘Kanya west’를 연상시킬 정도의 완성도를 보여주며 환상적인 조화를
보여주었다.

절친 윤은혜의 파격 스타일 디렉팅 참여

Hit your K-pop electro fix with Paparazzi! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Although two nice duets with MBLAQ’s Mir and 2PM’s Jun Su grace Ex-Baby Vox’s Mi Youn’s “Watch” mini album here - if there’s one reason to be honest about getting this CD, it’s for the high energy dance electro song “Paparazzi” (I know, I know another fat fried ‘naughty but nice’ diet of electro! ^^), which will soon get your dance antenna and body grooving to its demand for attention. This power dance song as a quick vitality like SNSD’s “Gee” in some ways and also brought Jung Hyun Lee’s dance songs and public image fashionista to mind (sure Jung Hyun also gets street snapped like Mi Youn by the camera crew in Seoul!). But if you additionally love K-pop’s T-ara, Brown Eyed Girls et al electro-pop dance songs; this is certainly worth a visit. “Paparazzi” is produced by Hitman Bang/PDogg (most songs are Hitman’s here) and is as catchy as you get! I felt the other dance song “Crazy” with MBLAQ has more structured sentiment as, too, the more romantic “Sunshine”, but not as immediately grabbing you attention like “Paparazzi” (THAT will certainly get your legs, trousers, nylons, trainers and shoes dancing). But, Mi Youn’s R&B vocals are more nicely suited, ironically, to the other slower song formats on the album (“Paparazzi” is infected by auto-tune of course, but, hey, this is 21st century futurism technology dance) and, of course, it’s all down to personal taste.

Certainly “Watch” is a project with quite a number of collaborations as with SS501’s Hyung JunKim also appearing with Mi Youn for the MV. So, a typical mix of electro pop/hip hop with additional slower songs for those more romantic feelings. This CD edition is a modest jewel case with some nice photos of Mi Youn inside the booklet, and if by chance you’ve overlooked Mi Youn’s mini debut abum here, I’d recommend you check it out. You’ll soon be dancing to “Paparazzi”, that’s for sure. ^^
