When it comes to franchises on the Nintendo DS, Kanji Sonomama: DS Rakuhiku Jiten is both a title and a resource like no other! This helpful second installment in the Touch Generations series of Nintendo DS titles broadens the features of the earlier DS Rakubiki Jiten electronic dictionary, amplifying the quality in ways fans of the previous title will appreciate. In this new chapter in the franchise, gamers have the ability to input kanji characters directly by way of the system's stylus. In addition, it also allows for gamers to search for readings and look up definitions.
Furthermore, this unique Nintendo DS title includes as a resource both English to Japanese and Japanese to English dictionaries. And if that wasn't enough, it also sports a special English language listening tutorial with English words pronounced by actual native speakers! As a nice bonus, it also contains a Japanese language quiz game with over seven hundred questions available for users to test their knowledge of the language! Considering all these options, Kanji Sonomama: DS Rakuhiku Jiten will prove to be an immensely helpful resource for language conscious Nintendo DS users on the go!

Using the stylus to enter characters makes searching easy, and even if you don't draw the character quite right a drop-down menu will give you a selection of nine similar looking characters to choose from making it pretty hard not to get the character you're looking for. There are a number of things in the entries that you probably won't understand until you get your Japanese up to a high standard, but even so for the most part the basic core meanings are there in English and most words will be used in simple example sentences in both languages giving you a good idea of their proper context and use. Really I have no real complaints about this product and any little niggles I may have are largely compensated for by the price. I doubt that you'll find any other electronic dictionaries that are as good for what you pay as this one, and a lot of dictionaries that are more expensive may not have some of the features that this one has. So, if you are thinking of buying an electronic dictionary I don't see much reason not to go for this one. |

This combined with a DS makes one of the cheapest electronic Japanese-English dictionaries available, and it's really good too. Easy to use, even for a relative beginner. Highly recommended. |

The easy Kanji dictionary.
|
This is by far the easiest Kanji dictionary that i have ever found. You simply draw the kanji you are looking for on the pad and it will automaticlly go to the correct entry in the dictionary. You may have to enter the kanji multiple times until it finds the right one, but it still saves hours of searching old fashioned paper dictionarys. A must have for beginning students of Japanese. You will need a basic understanding of Hiragana / Katakana to read most of the entrys, but compared to Kaji...H/K is simple. I have only begun to unlock the secrets of this wonderful product, but it is well worth the time and effort. The only other thing that i could wish for was a copy of the manual in English......but then, it was not ment for us anyway! |
