May 22, 2009 Love the songs and videosBought this after buying Koda Kumi's Trick album just to how the two sisters sang together. The main song is nice with atitude from both sisters. They are playing off each and seem to be having fun (at least from the music video anyways). I like Koda's 'Faraway'. It has a soft, floating feel to it just like her music video. The music videos were enjoyable to watch. Both videos match the songs perfectly. It's too bad they didn't include the making of It's all love video. Would have been nice to see the two sisters interacting.
I agree with another reviewer's comment about Misono's song. To me it was ok but not something I would use as an introductory song to her, granted, this was probably not Misono's debut song. But it was my first time hearing her sing by herself.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

May 22, 2009 post-productn DVD concert = distracted viewerThis is another buy that I was not sure of since I am not familiar with Koda Kumi. I'm not too sure what to make of her. My biggest complaint is the DVD concert. The DVD concert was terrible. Not the concert itself, there were some good songs, but all the post-production that was added into the concert afterwards. I've said it in my other review that I paid to see the singer, in this case Koda Kumi, and her concert. I do not need to see pinks graphics swirling around Koda and her dancers when she sings or subliminal words flash across the screen, nor do I need the screen shattering into 20 pieces while Koda is singing. All of Koda's fast songs were ruined by this type of stunt. If this was a music video then OK you can be funny with this type of stuff but a concert?? I cannot watch the concert with so much unnecessary distractions going on the screen at the same time as Koda is performing her concert.. I mean why split the screen into three sections with stuff happening in each. I'm not playing a multi-player video game here where we need to split the screen into quadrants. Her ballads or non hip hop songs had no post-production added in; I could actually see Koda playing with the crowd.
Again why do the record companies insist on region coding their DVDs? Why cut off your potential fans overseas- like in North America? Just like with some of the other singers, I cannot justify buying an 80 dollar DVD (an example of other merchandise)that is region coded 2 or 3 when there is a chance I may not be able to play it on my Blue-ray or DVD player.
I hope you are reading this record company representatives on both issues!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

May 22, 2009 Very good introduction to Ayumi for new fansWhen I first bought this DVD I wasn't sure what to expect as I did not know who Ayumi was. I am glad I decided to buy this DVD! From the first song I was impressed with the heavy guitar and edgy vocals and wondered what was to come. By the third song I was shocked by how much I was enjoying the concert and how fast I became a fan of Ayumi. I do not need to skip to my favourite songs like I do with some other artists as all the songs here can stand on its own. I will watch this DVD from start to end everytime.
The songs are what I would say a combination of guitar, electronic, and pop. The songs are lively, up tempo, edgy, catchy and the concert production is top notch. There are no in-studio added graphs, flashes and bangs to distract from the concert. What you see is Ayumi and her actual concert. I say Bravo!! I paid to watch Ayumi and her concert; not some in-studio added graphics (like some other singers- I'll write a review of this other singer's DVD). Like the cover on the DVD, Ayumi uses is a pirate ship as a stage prop for her songs, as well as, a merry-go-round when she sings her song 'Marionette'. I certainly wish I was there to watch the concert live. It would have been adrenaline pumping.
This DVD comes with the encore on disk 2 where Ayumi and her dancers are more casual and interacts with her fans. She answers and sings some of her older songs that fans requested through fan-mail. Ayumi laughs and jokes with her fans and band mates. Looked like a lot of fun even though I don't understand Japanese.
I liked the DVD so much I went looking for the songs from the concert and ended up buying the "All complete Singles" plus Ayumi's "Guilty" album and her newest album, "Next Level". I have not been disappointed! I listen to these albums at work.
My only complaint is that her DVDs and blue-rays (whenever they are released) should be NTSC all regions. I would not have been able to enjoy Ayumi's music, concerts and MV here in North America if I had not hacked my DVD player. The record company is cutting off alot of Ayumi's oversea fans. There are Asians in North America who are potential fans- like me for example. Here's to hoping that Ayumi Hamasaki's DVD and Blue-rays will be all regions in the near future. So I can watch them without hacking my Blue-ray player.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
