時は西暦2201年、かつて木星との戦争で活躍した機動戦艦ナデシコのクルーたちはバラバラになり、それぞれ別の人生を歩み始めていた。その頃、4つのスペースコロニーが正体不明の敵に破壊されるという事件が起きる。事件調査のため、コロニーのひとつ"アマテラス"へと向かう16歳の新艦長・ホシノ・ルリ率いるナデシコBは、そこで正体不明の敵が目指したものを目の当たりにするのだった…。
TVシリーズの人気を受けて、1998年夏に劇場公開・大ヒットを記録した「劇場版機動戦艦ナデシコ」のDVD化。緻密なメカ描写、ハードなストーリー展開、新キャラクターの登場など、劇場版ならではの見どころも盛り沢山。
今回のDVD再リリースにあたっては、HDテレシネによる完全リマスターを実施。音声も5.1chサラウンド・リミックスを施し、映像＆音声共に格段のクオリティアップを果たしている。
