１９３０年代初期のロンドン。国務大臣フリントン侯爵（レックス・ハリソン）は、ある自動車屋の前で目のさめるような黄色いロールスロイスを見つけ、妻のエロイズ（ジャンヌ・モロー）に贈った。その後、妻と部下フェインの情事を知ってしまった。しかもその車が彼らの情事の場所だった。数年後、その車はパオロに買いとられた。彼は情婦のメイ（シャーリー・マクレーン）をつれてイタリアの旅に出た。途中彼らは街頭写真師ステファーノ（アラン・ドロン）を乗せたが、メイがこの美青年を意識し始めたので、パオロは彼を車からおろしてしまった。１９４１年、その車はイタリアの町で、アメリカのミレット夫人（イングリッド・バーグマン）に買い取られた。彼女はこの車でユーゴスラビアに向かった。途中ダビッチ（オマー・シャリフ）という、国外追放されているユーゴスラビアの志士を同乗させた。彼は祖国がナチス・ドイツの侵略の危機にさらされていると感じ、一刻も早く、祖国への潜入をねらっていた。彼を無事に送りとどけ、夫人はロールスロイスを駆使して負傷者の救出にあたった。やがて夫人は黄色いロールスロイスと共にアメリカに向かった。 オリジナル劇場予告編
