Golden Chicken 2 (Hong Kong Version)
January 8, 2006 Prefer Part 1The makers of this movie seemed to have rushed to get this out in theaters. They should have waited after 2003. Since so many things also happened. After the production of this movie. The death of Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui also happened in the same year. There was not even a dedication to the 2 superstars. Next time when making a movie about a certain year, make sure the year has ended first before production. So many things can happen in one year that is worth mentioning.

January 6, 2006 Good Production ValuesThe opening seemed promising with a cruel but satisfying fight sequence. But I seemed to have lost that expectation after about half the movie. The story seemed to be all over the place with so many subplots. Maybe because of so many characters. But oddly some scenes should have been edited out. Who really cares about a lost horse in an action movie? The actions looked good but I was expecting more from three great action directors especially from Lau Kar Leung. Maybe Tsui Hark is saving his best for the sequal?

January 6, 2006 NEED REAL ACTION STARSI think HK action movies should stop casting pop idols in action movies. This does not make the movie any better. The director of this movie should go watch SPL and get some references.

Home Sweet Home (DTS Version) (US Version)
January 6, 2006 Sorry But Too Depressing to WatchThis is not really a horror movie. It seemed more like a depressing drama. The chemistry of adding loads of drama into a potentially good horror movie seemed like a big mistake. The sad story of how Karena Lam became the hag in the movie made me want to turn my TV off. Shu Qi seemed to have overacted a little. But both actress gave good efforts on their parts. And the movie seems so trying.

January 6, 2006 Could Be Better
I am a huge fan of Jackie Chan. I own all of his best movies. Personally I like Jackie acting tough and serious over his comedic performances. The comedy helps but Jackie should reinvent himself. He should realize that he is not getting any younger and it is clear that he is losing his boyish charm. He was good as the mighty General Meng Yi. I actually liked him playing the general than his modern day character. It felt refreshingly good to see him take up a serious chivalric character. He should do more movies like that. Honestly, I am not a big fan of all the abundance use of SFX in the movie. The kicking horse seemed a bit too weird. Other than that, great performance on everything else. Kim Hee Son and Malika Sherawat are beautiful women.
