김장훈이 3년 반만에 새앨범을 들고 돌아왔다.앨범 타이틀은 '조각'이다.

오직 가수의 길만을 걷기로 한 4집 이후 처음으로 전앨범에 대한 프로듀싱과 편곡을 주관했다.
이번 앨범의 키워드는 감각 보다는 감동이다. 초기의 김장훈만이 갖고 있던 야수성을 추억하던 사람들에겐 좋은 선물이 될 것이다.

"수많은 무대에서 경험한 사람들의 표정에서 이번 앨범의 성격과 감동점을 찾아봤습니다.
절제 할 것은 확실하게 절제하고 튈 것들은 더 도드라지게 하여 역동적인 공연장에서만 느낄수 있는 앨범 이상의 그 무언가를 추구했습니다. 저의 초기의 소리들을 찾는 사람들과 지금의 감각적인 모드를 원하는 사람들을 모두 만족시키고자 최선을 다했습니다."

오랫만에 앨범을 발표하는 가수들이 의례히 추구하듯 확실하게 구별되는 그 무언가를 내놓으리라는 예상을 깨고 타이틀곡 ' I love you'는 제목부터 평이하고 멜로디가 너무나 곱고 감미로와서 어쩌면 김장훈 같지가 않다.하지만 그의 얘기를 들어 보면 심중을 알수 있다.
"공연이든 노래든 옷이든..늘 튀고 공격적인 그 무언가를 추구했습니다. 하지만 부드러움과 단순함 속에서 오히려 더 격정을 느낄수 있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 'I love you' 가 바로 그러하리라 생각하며 그렇기 때문에 천번을 들어도 질리지가 않으리라 생각합니다. 감각보다는 감동을 주고 싶습니다."
하지만 그의 상징적인 특성인 야수적인 샤우팅과 투박함은 다른 노래들 곳곳에서 찾아 볼 수 있다.
한곡에 무려 200트랙에 해당하는 화려한 편곡과 3트랙에 불과한 곡이 공존하는 앨범.
4옥타브에 달하는 공격적이며 숨막히는 곡과 누구나 따라 할 수 있는 곡이 공존하는 앨범.

If i have to choose between all the cds from the great and unique KIM JANG HOON discography to take with me in one island it will be very dificult...maybe the 5TH (A FOOL)...the 6TH (INNOCENCE)...or the 7TH..but after hearing his last cd i probably pick this one,in my humble opinion one of his more mature and well produced work. many beautifuls ballads very sweets and sad but not overproduced with acoustic instruments.
his voice is unique and can be very powerful and deeply husky but in this cd he sings mostly low and in the ballads he moved me like never before.
i have the complete discography of this great korean artist and i have been a fan of him from a long long time ...i really think this is one of his best work...but to be honest he never disapointed me.
my only big regret is that i will never see him in concert in france....maybe in korea...anyway

I highly recomend this cd. The first song is my favorite but the entire tracklist is good allthough there are not many upbeat songs. Kim Jang Hoon is a very emotional singer with a unforgetable voice that makes the listener really feel his words. There is a booklet included with this that has a stitced spine enclosed in a slipcase with a puzzle design. It is a really well made set and cd. Once you hit play the time go's by fast.
