Budgeted at a whopping 20 billion won, the 2010 blockbuster period drama Kim Su Ro is the first Korean drama to cover the founding myth of the state of Gaya which existed in first century AD during the Three Kingdoms period. Ji Sung stars as the eponymous king who legend says descended from the heavens, and eventually rose to the throne of Geumgwan Gaya and united the Gaya city-states. Ji Sung's Swallow the Sun co-star Yoo Oh Sung and Go Joo Won (The King and I) play his main rivals, while Seo Ji Hye (Over the Rainbow) is the female lead, the first queen of Gaya. The star-studded cast also includes Bae Jong Ok, Lee Pil Mo, Son Tae Young, Lee Jong Won, and Kang Byul.
Lee Pil Ho (Beethoven Virus, Baker King, Kim Tak Goo) serves as the music director for Kim Soo Roo. The drama's soundtrack includes the theme "I Feel Love" performed by Lee Ji Hye, the Monday Kiz ballad "A Thorn Love" by Lee Jin Sung and Kang Ji Won, and Girls' Generation member Seo Hyun's solo "It's OK Even If It Hurts".
