Every summer NTV holds the telethon charity event 24 Hour Television Special, bringing together artists, comedians, and idols together for a 24-hour marathon show that includes many special performances, variety challenges, and a touching special mini-drama. For the 2007 edition of 24 Hour Television, Johnny's duo Tackey & Tsubasa served as the main personalities/hosts, and Takizawa Hideaki starred in the special drama Kimi ga Kureta Natsu. Based on Yamazaki Toshiko's novel, Kimi ga Kureta Natsu is about a young father and his cancer-stricken son, and their 730 days together battling the disease. Takizawa and Fukada Kyoko team up for the first time since Strawberry on the Shortcake to play a married couple.

鳶職人の木崎真人（滝沢秀明）とトキコ（深田恭子）は２０歳で結婚。２人の子供を授かり、幸せな日々を送っていたが、ある日５歳になった長男・直也（武井証）が１０万人に１人の確立で発症するといわれる「ユーイング肉腫」に侵されていることがわかる。病院と家を往復するトキコ。真人も必死に仕事をする。一方直也は辛い治療を受けながらも、将来は昆虫博士になるのだと、夢を語るのだった。闘病の末、治癒したかに思えた矢先、再発と骨髄への転移が発覚。覚悟を迫られた真人は、山で虫捕りをしようという直也との約束を果たそうと考えて—。
どんなに苦しいことがあっても、頑張ればきっと幸せになれるよ。
