AMAZING!
| I have to agree with Sinjun. While I didn't purchase this single (I bought the CD "Sunny")...I adore this singer and was hoping she had a previous CD I could buy. I was suprised to find she didn't. Now I'm even more impressed, because this is a DEBUT CD and it's perfect. I agree with her being compared to Vanessa Carlton style and her voice is unique. Her music is very Western, but sung in Japanese which gives it that special something that is actually incomparable to anyone at all. She is simply Ai, and that is all she needs to be. I adore her, and can't wait for her next CD! I hope it comes soon and she isn't an artist that takes a year or two between albums. I only have had "Sunny" by her for 2 days, and already I want more. I love Lisa Loeb and Vanessa Carlton, so Ai is exactly what I like to hear. Keep it up, Ai, and please don't change: you are perfect the way you are. BUY HER MUSIC. It's brilliant! |

Fresh Air
| Takaoka Ai has a really refreshing voice, and this song really compliments that. It may come off as a bit odd sounding in the chorus since it changes key but I think it's what makes this song so darned catchy. Not poppy at all, if you are looking for a North American equivalent, Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton come to mind in genre, but I don't think I can find anyone on this side of the continent to compare her voice with. If you are kind of tired of the over sugar poppy genre but not really into the hard alternative either, Takaoka Ai is your nice middle. My favorite line in this song is the last "Watashi nara koko ni iru"Just listen to this song and let it wash over you. This song is indeed a breath of fresh air. |
