This story of the Labrador Retriever's attempts to join the police first appeared on a television program, turning her into a local celebrity. Now, television director Kobayashi Yoshinori (Umizaru Evolution) brings the amazing true story to the big screen with Kinako ~ Minarai Keisatsuken no Monogatari, a heartwarming story about an underdog and her dog. Kaho (Gentle Breeze in the Village) plays the teenage underdog, who devotes her life into training Kanako for the police force. Kinako ~ Minarai Keisatsukan no Monogatari may be the story of a dog overcoming obstacles, but it also offers a few lessons we can learn from as well.

Following her late father's footsteps, young Kyoko (Kaho) joins a police dog training center as an apprentice. When she meets the weak Golden Labrador Retriever Kinako, she falls immediately in love and decides to train her to become a police dog. Despite Kyoko's hard work over the years, Kinako just simply cannot master the skills to be accepted into the force. When the two's embarrassing appearance in a police dog contest becomes a news story, Kyoko begins to contemplate giving up once and for all.
