2007 was an okay year for Koda Kumi. It starts very well with the amazing BUT/Aisho single but she also released, the same date, the disappointing and useless BEST ~BOUNCE & LOVERS~. Her following two singles were quite disappointing too. From her summer single, I only love the main track : FREAKY and her traditional winter ballad (Ai no Uta) was not as good as her previous one. Recently, she released another amazing single : LAST ANGEL feat. Tohoshinki. I was afraid to have another album full of singles like Black Cherry. Last year, it didn't bother me because all her singles were amazing in my opinion but that's the case this year So it was a really enjoyable news to see that she includes only the A-Sides (which I like). The other disappointment with her this year was her PVs they weren't as good as her standards. But the album definitely wipes off the problem, im pretty sure some of the 10 new promotional videos will be amazing. Lets hope that Kumi will offer an album as good as secret. |

Kumi's Best Album
Kumi's Best Album
|
All of Kumi's albums have been pretty good or OK, but this is truly amazing. I wasn't expecting this from Kumi Koda. Completely unexpected, original, and refreshing. I have heard all the song samples and I can tell this is going to be great!! I'm going to review CD-ONLY for right now because I have yet to see the videos or concert on the 2DVD version. Introduction - It's interesting and I can tell there will probably be a full version of it on her next album. It's pretty, but not like Black Cherry or Best ~Second Session~ intros. But OH YES, it's waaay better than "Get Down" for Secret's intro. It's nice to see Kumi do something different and slow R&B-ish for an intro. It sounds romantic to an extent! n_n Hee-hee!!!!!! Amai Wana - ADDICTIVE Hip Hop song. LOVE this one. It reminds me of a mixture between JUICY and Candy feat. Mr. Blistah - except better and without all the strong sexuality. Himitsu - BEAUTIFUL mid-tempo R&B track. It'll be a favorite. ;) anytime - Extremely impressed with this track. A light-hearted mid-tempo pop song with a sweet message. Different from over-cutsie songs she normally does. It has just enough cute-ness so it doesn't go overboard. UNDER - once again, ANOTHER Hip Hop dance track. So far, so good! n_n Love it. Koi no mahou - nice, dancy pop song with an addictive melody. very catchy and cute n_n Reminds me a bit like "Let's Party" from "Secret" for some reason. Dunno, maybe it's just me! n_n'' There's something about it that doesn't sound extremely pop-y! Anata ga shite-kureta koto - A mid-tempo R&B song that's very cool and laidback. I can imagine driving down the road and singing this one. n_n-V Wonderland - fun, sweet track but probably my least favorite from the album because of it's (VERY MUCH TOO CUTE) pop sound. After I see the video, I may change my mind..but it sounds like a "Koi no Tsubomi"/"Birthday Eve" kind of track. Song-wise, it's my least favorite. Still like it though. MORE - my FAVORITE new album track. Gorgeous slow R&B song with a jazz feel and AMAZING vocals. Kumi sounds beautiful on this one and the melody itself is just breath-taking. Hee-hee! n_n Introduction (from Black Cherry) Full Song - I always thought Kumi should make a full version of this ever since I heard the short version on Black Cherry. It's wonderful. Not vocally challenging, but it's sexy and fun. Very very good Hip Hop dance number. It think fans will sing along with Kumi's ENGRISH-y lyrics. hahaha As for the single tracks go, I love them all except "FREAKY", which is still pretty good just does not shine in comparison to the rest of the album. I still hoped for a solo version of "Last Angel", but it's ok. XD I can mentally block Tohoshinki out. (giggling) Well, I'm sorry if I wasn't descriptive enough! It's all I can give you for now! n_n'' <3 *MWAH!* This is truly Kumi's best album, in my oppinion. This has made me SO HAPPY! n_n I'll leave a better review once I recieve my CD+2DVDs. This'll be hard competition for other albums coming out around this time...but we'll see what happens!! =) *blink blink* |

This is a frikkin sweet deal!!! I love Kumi's current albums releases so much, she never leaves buyers feeling like they got less than what they paid for. But anyways, Kumi's been just...on the ball for the past couple of years (many of us have watched her grow into popularity for longer than that however <3), and she's come out with yet another well composed album. Now granted we haven't heard anything but the singles yet, it's just the songs she's released so far and how well they're written and composed is where we KNOW this album will be amazing. I think I'll wait for the overseas versions to come out because I'm going to purchase her 2008 calendar (SO amazing, check it out!) so yea. 90 min of live footage? A DVD with vids for most of the album songs? Not to mention the really cute covers? Awesome? Hecks yes! |
