Anyhow I did not really like this film, it was very slowpaced in my point of view in a boring way, Too most often makes me just love the dialog, characters etc. but something was missing in this one.
A few tasteful scenes were made but they can't raise the bar considering I thought too much was just a waste of time.
Not a film I recommend by Too, go watch Exiled or something instead.

John Woo has really made this his masterpiece and nothing from him as really come up to par with this amasing film.
This edition from Dragon Dynasty is a really good release with a nice extra DVD full of extra stuff to dig into when you have completed watching the film.
the picture is really good to the sound comes with the origional mono track aswell as an DTS or DD5.1 option.
If you like action this film is surly for you and this edition as, I guess, the best one to get if you want lots of extras and not just the film.

I don't think I really need to explain what his movies are about but I can say they are not for everyone.
Dead Or Alive are one of his better older yakuza films in my opinion. Great action scenes, interesting characters, and the ending is just great!
First time I saw this movie I did NOT see that comming that's for sure.

2 discs which was the really right choice. First one is more or less a trip in the ambient land, everyoen that has seen the movie knows what Im talking about. Disc 2 has the harder songs which contains some eletric guitar among other things.
It is of course a plus to have seen the film and just relive all the wonderful scenes during the listening time of this album, but if you are a fan of ambient music in general you should not hesitate to give this one a chance.
the korean version is as far as I know identic with the japaneese version.

April 15, 2008 Almost all the wayI guess many fans of Jet Li was a bit afraid that he was going to go all bad on screen when he was ending wushu style onscreen. Well after seeing this movie we all know this is not the case.
So instead of using wushu in the film what does he do? he kicks ass with weapons and regular kicks and fists of course!
This movie feels abit like the answer to saving private ryan, band of brothers and simualr films, only that this is dealing with China and the wars between the provinces back in the days. Instead of massive shootings and bombings this movie has alot of swords, cannons and other stuff to make the battle fields turn red.
All in all this movie is really good. Well scripted and well acted from all actors in the movie.
The only thing that bothers me is that it drops in tempo in the middle of the film and becomes a bit dull and then goes up in tempo again.
Anyhow if you are a fan of big battles with swords, kicks, fists and cannons and an angry jet li in general position look no further, this movie is for you.
I shall also add that this movie is semi graphic and shows a few nasty things here and there, which to me is a good thing as Ive become very tired of Hollywoods "no blood, no swearing, no graphic violence" in films, show some realism or don't bother to show it at all.

LOVERS Original Soundtrack (Japan Version)
October 1, 2007 WoW!!This review is based upon the american release of this soundtrack I don't know why its called lovers in japan but this is the house of flying daggers soundtrack. It contains the same songs and plays just the same.
for a soundtrack this is up there with the best movie soundtrack Ive heard.
from fast paced drummings to slowpaced flutes and other instruments are used just beutifully throughout the entire album.
the sound is top notch. its a wonderfully 3d soundfiled that is presented on this album more or less making your room disappear, it doesn't feel like you are listening to music it sound like you are experience it, if that makes any sense.
this album has my biggest grattitude.

even though it might feel a bit slow paced at times it has a well written story, interesting characters and everybody in the film does their parts top notch.
don't expect a bullet balle film as its not!
but what you get is a thriller of high class and when its action it is action HK style!
some awsome stunts are to be seen aswell..

Its a beautiful ride from start to finnish with some of the best sceneries Ive seen in any film to date.
the fights are also very well executed mixed with really good CGI effects.
This blu-ray release on this film could have been better but despite its 25gb version (instead of 50gb that is maxium capacity of blu-ray)
This film outshines its DVD release.
The sad thing about watching this film in HD is that they haven't done much to lift certain scenes from grain or picture noise so when going HD these particular scenes become even more visible.
Still if you like this film and want the best possible version of it, the blu-ray version is the one to get.
colours are stunning and most scenes looks just plain awsome.

September 17, 2007 Work of ArtChrono Cross is maybe for most people the best RPG that has ever been made looking on every single system there is.
So how does the soundtrack stand up to this amasing game? Well clearly is that even on this partiuclar level its maybe one of the best soundtracks ever created for an RPG.
What made Chrono Cross so good back in teh days was that everything in the game was so stunnig.
Graphics, character development, the story and of course the music.
Yasunori Mitsuda has totally outdone himself on this soundtrack, and up to date I still think this is the best work he has created.
From the smashing opening song to sad hymns.
Despite the fact that this is a box of 3 cd's there are very very few songs that won't grab hold of you and give you certain emotions. sadness, joy, anger etc.
From ctachy musci to more large scales orochstral music are found on this soundtrack.
I rate it 9/10 because as I have mentioned in the other game soundtracks reviews. Buying japaneese doesn't give you any title in english, the booklet that follows can't be read either.
Its sad that they don't try and bring out both japaneese and english translated booklets and song titles.
Now I have to get the song titles of the net.
still if you like RPG music in particular, you should give this one a try. Chances are that you might be a part of the growing group considering this the best RPG soundtrack of all time.

A boy is getting housearrest and to try and make his days go by he starts to spy on his neighbours, one in particular that seems a bit strange. After hearing on the news about a murder that has gotten away from another state, he starts to get suspicious that this neigbhour can actually be the killer.
The film is a bit different thriller in the sense that it focus on so much more than just the actual plot itself making it sometimes a rather funny film to see.
David Morse plays really well in this film as the suspicious neighbour, its a role that stuis him really well.
the other actors plays good aswell but not really up on par with David.
This blu-ray release is somewhat variated in terms of quality. Some scenes look stunning while others looksa bit grainy and dark (many scenes are shot in the dark)
Even so it looks really well on blu-ray with nice sharpness and depth in the film.
If you are a fan of thrillers I guess this one should satisfy you.

If you like smashing cresendos and ambient type of classical scores all onto one cd, this album should give you satisfaction.
Probably one of the better film soundtracks Ive heard over the years.

September 7, 2007 A bit slowpaced but still goodDonnie Yen is the type of guy that can make everything from a great movie to a bad movie.
Dragon Tiger Gate is a good movie.
the fighting scenes are very well executed and some of the better Ive seen Donnie Yen produce.
The downhil of this movie is that I found it a bit slowpaced at time, still the fighting scenes do raise the level of this movie bigtime.
Its well shot and rich on beutiful colours and scenery so if you are looking for an action movie which actually tells a plot, and therefor lacks a bit in the action department you should see this one.

I had no expectations when I entered it in my DVD player but I was happy when it was over, happy in the way that this movie was very good.
Some bluscreen effects are very very cheesy but the acting and action is really really good.
and I must say that Wu Jing kind of steals the show everytime he goes on screen.
This dude is amasing!
It was fun to see Sammo Hung fight of some more but his role was kinda in the background and shold have been lifted up a tiny bit still he plays his role as Sammo usually plays, very good.
This is a flick for everyone that really enjoyes over-the top HK action. It has tons of wire-fu but its just cool to see.
Look thru some of the cheesy bluscreen effects and this film delivers great action.

I'm so glad that after all these halfmade movies he's been given in Hollywood he finally gets a movie that he deserves.
Fearless is a film where we get to see Jet's skills in acting AND Martial Arts!
Wow, what a film this is!
The scens are beautfiul made which makes me think of the older ones such as Once Upon A Time In China 1,2,3 and others he made before he landed in hollywood.
The acting is on par with his performance in Danny The Dog (A movie I find very interesting and well played by Jet)
Jet has said this will be his last film that he gonna make using of the martial arts style Wushu, I don't know about that, but if this really is his last film of that kind it was a very very good "this is for you my fans" film.
Every move you have loved him for is here, evey "jet smile" is here it got it all!
What differs the directors cut with the other releases is a few new scenes that just helps this movie to build tention.
I wonder WHY movie companies shall butcher the directors visions of a film since most of the times those editions are the best ones.
This oen is no exepction. It helps to get a better picture on the character jet plays and also with this directors cut we get a little info. regarding wushu as a martial arts style and what its meaning is.

Despite what people think about the passion of christ, I guess every film lover can agree on the fact that it was a really well made movie.
This one is no lesser made but this movie should appeal to a bigger audience than passion of christ, since this one is a more of an adventure film than a religious film.
Many people claim this movie is gory or very brutal but I can't see it any more brutal than for example BraveHeart.
I get the feeling that Mel has taken Braveheart into consideration when he shot this one since much of the violence is more or less shot in the same veins as Braveheart.
Its violent but not over the top it feels real and how people behaved and used the weapons from that era in human history.
It can at times feel a little long but overall this is a really good movie that I won't have any trouble with wacthing again anytime soon.
the blu-ray version comes with a really good picture but its not up to par with the best releases.
it feels a bit uneven throughout the film where some scenes are crystal clear and some other feels a bit lower on details.
I guess that is due to the fact that this film was shot using both 35mm film and 16mm.
I can surly recommend this film to anyone that loves a good adventure film and wants a little look into the life of our past.

bringing the best scenes from the first two movies in the "lonefwolf and cub" series
Compelete with awsome voicedubbing it was not much not to be liked in that movie..
Of course someone thought "how cool to make a sequel" and here it is..
the sad thing is this is the same movie as "lonewolf and cub 3" only it has been digitally remastered and are again using voicdubbing.
Now why is this movie not as fun as the first?
Well first of all the voiceacting are nowhere near the coolness of the first one.. lonewolf sound just like a ordinary sad man and the rest thruout the film has no specatular thing to say really..
Second thing is the blood in this movie has been toned down to a minium (if you compare with the first movie) and the fact that this is the whole lonewolf and cub 3 film the action is nowhere near as adrenaline pumped as in the first installment.
If I had watched this movie for the fact that I wanted to see "lonewolf and cub 3" I would give it a higher rating as its still a good movie but this was supposed to be a sequel to SHOGUN ASSASSIN 1 and its a sad sequel to that movie..

The dubbed voices in this movie are so damn cool.. I don't know why but ok, they are a bit out of sync making it look funnier but lonewolf sounds so darn brutal and totally ignorant making this movie even better..

Every single song that is in the game can be found here and even a few that is not in the game.
Personally I think this is one of the best final fantasy soundtracks to date.
The sound is crystal clear and makes good use of your hi-fi equipment to let you inside this massive world they have created.
I got the limited edition box of this collection so I frankly don't know how the regular edition will be but the downside on this one (as with all soundtracks comming out of Japan) is that as always there is no info. regarding titles in english only japaneese.
the booklet that follows this box is also printed in japaneese so for us that don't understand this its kinda useless, but it comes with some very nice pohotographs to rest the eyes on.
Over all this is surly a game soundtrack that should be owned and my bet is that even people that has not played this game themselves can still enjoy the songs on this. Everything from heavy battlehyms to more peacefull songs are collected here.
Get the translated song titles of the net to solve the prolem with japaneese characters and your fine.

And this is the second installment in the God Of Gamblers era with Chow Yun Fat.
This one is filled with comedy that hits good on every level.
Also the action is very cool even though this is more of a comedy.
This remastered release looks really good.. its fun to see how many of those old hong kong releases gets the treatment they deserve on DVD now.
Its surly a must by if you are a fan of chow yun fat and a fan of oldschool hongkong flix in general.

February 27, 2007 Martial Arts made BeautifulEver since I first saw Wu Jing in the awsome movie SPL I, among others, wished to see him in a bigger role than the support character he played in SPL!
Finally the wait is over.
Wu Jing plays this fighter who is drawn inside a world of illegal street fighting, and oh my does he hit the spot! This movies is really filled with some stunning acrobatics and cool made fights!
Despite a rather cheesy story, that still provides a cool twist plots here and there, shouldn't be bothered to much as this movie is clearly made for those who enjoy to watch nice made fighting on the screen.
Its a good popcorn flick to watch again and again, and I hope that Wu Jing will return in a new movie in a near future!
