Teen idol Nakayama Yuma (Battery) develops a forbidden teacher-student vampire romance with Kato Rosa (Oh! My Girl!!) in the 2009 Fuji TV drama Koishite Akuma - Vampire Boy. Drawing attention for its vampire theme and the age gap between the two leads, the story revolves around stoic fledgling vampire Ruka, who has come to the human world to draw blood for the first time from a female - a rite of passage that all male vampires must go through to achieve immortality. Posing as a high school student, Ruka falls into an ambiguous relationship with his teacher Makoto, whose late first love looked exactly like Ruka. Kondo "Matchy" Masahiko co-stars as Ruka's vampire mentor, and Johnny's Jr. Morimoto Shintaro plays his cousin. Another Johnny's senior, Kanjani8's Yokoyama Yu, guest stars in one of the episodes. Nakayama's bandmate Nakajima Kento of B.I.Shadow plus Sakuraba Nanami and Okamato Rei from Akai Ito and Irie Jingi from Ghost Friends play Ruka's classmates.
