美しい京都を舞台に数奇な運命に翻弄された双子の姉妹を描いた、上戸彩主演のドラマ「古都」をDVD化（2005年2月5日テレビ朝日で放送）。原作はノーベル賞作家・川端康成の同名作。幾度となく映像化されたこの名作を、ドラマ「エースをねらえ！」映画「あずみ」主演のトップアイドル上戸彩が熱演。少女と大人の間で揺れ動く双子のヒロインを繊細に演じわけた。ヒロインを影ながら支える渡部篤郎の抑えた演技もいい。上戸着用の着物は義母役の高橋惠子と合わせ、総額2千万円を超えるという特注の1点もの。古都・京都の四季折々の美しい景色も鮮やかな、凛とした雰囲気の漂う良質の和ドラマである。
昭和30年代前半の京都。呉服問屋の一人娘・千重子は優しい両親のもとで気だての良い娘に育った。父の描いた柄の着物を着て婚約者の真一と清水寺に出かけた千重子は、自分は本当の子供ではない気がするとつぶやく。帰り道、幼なじみに久しぶりに出会った千重子は「昨日北山杉にいたのでは？」と問われる。覚えのない千重子はただ困惑するが…。

This beautiful drama is adopted from Yasunari Kawabata's novel about twins who separated since they were little and they had different paths of life. One is rich one & the other is poor. One day they were met each other unexpectedly and the story were begun....
If you have read KOTO written by Yasunari Kawabata, you may interpret all the smoothness of Kawabata's words by the beautiful scenery & plot of this drama.
