西暦２０７９年。地球は異星人との戦争状態にあり、青い空と豊かな大地の大半を失った人類はドーム都市での生活を強いられていた。天才科学者スペンサーはその夜、軍の極秘プロジェクトの議長との会談を控えていた。だが、スペンサーはオフィスへ向かう途中で保安局のハサウェイ少佐に逮捕されてしまう。しかも理由は、本物のスペンサーはすでに殺されていて、今いるスペンサーは異星人によって造られたクローンであり、体内には爆弾が仕掛けられ標的に近づくと爆発するからだ、というもの。このままでは処刑されてしまうと考えたスペンサーは一瞬のスキをついて脱出、自分が本物のスペンサーであることを証明するため執拗な追跡をかいくぐりながらある場所を目指すのだった。
