YesAsia Editorial Description

Between "GO" and "Ping Pong" Kubozuka Yousuke personally supervised the production of "Kyouki No Sakura", which incorporates the idea of cherry blossoms as background for the happenings in the movie. There are lots of violent fighting scenes in the movie in front of the cherry blossom setting. The movie progresses through the different changes of the cherry blossoms and development of circumstances. The movie is based on the bestseller novel of the same name and revolves around the lives of three teenagers. After Kubozuka Yousuke finished reading the novel he insisted on turning it into a movie. Regarding the story as very captivating and believing that a movie version would be very thrilling, he suggested to turn the book into a movie script, which put him under the pressure of meeting the demands of a good movie version. Therefore, he was forced to take care of the supervision of the film himself.

Kubozuka Yousukewho earlier acted as a boxer in the "GO" this time portrays a teenage street-fighter. He teams-up with two peers Rikiya and Sutomoto. Together the three roam the streets in their white fighting uniforms pledging to rid the town of all crooks. After a while their acts draw the attention of the right wing triad management, which leads to their introduction to these circles. They are manipulated by the wealth and fortune continuously being tempted by things like gratis food and lodging or attractive materialistic things. During his turbulent days Kubozuka Yousuke gets acquainted with the high-class college girl Kyoko who matches him in her liveliness and naivete …

The three protagonists go on with their usual lifestyle. One night they go sweeping up a drug circle without knowing that it is the base of a newly founded gang. As a fierce struggle erupts the three friends find themselves facing unbeatable odds and start to realize that it is hard to shed off the deadly conspiracy of the triad …

So this dvd does come with english subs. The movie was just okay if your into friends/gang movies watch young & dangerous. The plot was okay it could have been better. I recommend watching Ping Pong, Go, and laundry first.

nice soundtrack Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
good movie with lots of action, and a great soundtrack (produced by K-Dub Shine, and most of the songs are done by King Giddra. 4 or so of the songs dont appear on the OST cd itself but are on other albums. Hi Izuru Tokoro is on KdubShine's Sekai Isan CD, F.F.B is on King Giddra's Ultimate Weapon CD, and Heisei Isshin is on the KG album as well). kubozuka does a good job in this one, showing alot of emotion as usual just as in Ping Pong and GO. without english subs however, u might want to have a translator on hand or speak japanese, cuz it gets sorta confusing at times.
