Vic is 13 (Sophie Marceau), the much made-over daughter of a denitist father and a cartoonist mother (Brigitte Fossey).
She is particularly fond of her great-grandmother (Denise Grey), a famous harpist to whom she likes to confide all her little secrets. The story is about Vic's daily life, growing out of childhood and into her teens, the crisis that comes at 13, her joys, her first heart flutters, and her first party which opens this comedy.
At the same time, Vic's parents go through the crisis that comes after 15 years of marriage, with quarrels and unexpected incidents at a frantic pace with alternating moments of laughter, emotion, smiles and tenderness.

Nice to see how an international star is born....

First of all, even though it is advertised as region-3-coded, I can play this on my region 1 sony DVD player. The movie itself is so-so; the picture quality is average with signs of age. The plot is your standard teenage girl stuff. The subplot about the parents is more interesting. If you are a Sophie Marceau, this is a must-have. Otherwise, if you have extra time in your life to spare, go for it. |
