The fourth installment in Shaw Brothers' beloved adaptation of Wu Cheng En's Journey to the West, The Land of Many Perfumes finds the Tang Priest Xuanzhang (Ho Fan) as the object of desire of an all-woman community. Even more bizarre is the fact that Xuanzhang seems willing to return the advances of the community's queen, a definite no-no for a priest charged with carrying Buddhist scriptures to the Western world. Luckily he has Monkey to bail him out once again. However, Monkey has his hands and tail full dealing with the Ru Yi fairy god, who's taken up residence in Monkey's home, the Water Curtain Cave! Can Monkey deal with the unwanted tenant and get back in time to save Xuanzhang? And why would Xuanzhang be willing to give up his journey to get married? Another delightful installment
|
"Land of Many Perfumes" is the fourth and final installment in the highly entertaining Journey to the West series. The movie sets just the right comic tone for its clearly defined and well-acted characters. Fang Ying stands out with her beauty and grace. Highly recommended by your humble servant. Note to Celestial Pictures: Please reissue the DVDs of "Princess Iron Fan" and "Cave of the Silken Web", the second and third installments in the series!!! |

not bad for entertainment
| I think this sequel is not bad compare to the rest of monkey king movie in Shaw Brother. the reason is that lots of fun in this movie and we get the chance to see lots of different actresses. one more thing is that the pig sing lots of good song. |

Land of many perfumes
| The last of four "Journey to the west" movies. Not much breakthrough interms of the visual effects as compared to the previous three. Ok for entertainment. |
