YesAsia Editorial Description
The flying bullets of director John Woo's filmography get substituted with swords in Last Hurrah for Chivalry, a rousing swordplay epic which brings John Woo's celebrated themes of brotherhood and honor to a martial arts film. Wei Bark is Chang, AKA the Magic Sword, who wishes to leave his infamous swordsman days behind him. He's befriended by two other swordsmen: Kao (Lau Kong), who's bitter over the murder of his family, and Tsing Yi (Damian Lau), who offers to help Chang kill Pai, the man who murdered Kao's family. However, not all is as it seems, and one of the men may want Chang dead. Eventually, treachery will face off against honor in a final battle for the code of chivalry. Though it predated A Better Tomorrow, Last Hurrah for Chivalry contains the dynamic camerawork and mature thematic sensibilities that would become director John Woo's trademarks. Last Hurrah for Chivalry is a dazzling swordplay epic that will please fans of both John Woo and martial arts films alike!

if sword fighting is your cup of tea, sit back, relax, and enjoy a taste of what this movie has to offer. entertaning story with the regular theme of revenge as the base, but the plot takes some twists which make the movie hard to forecast. likeable characters, awsome scenery, great costumes, and wondrful choreography make this movie an utmost important must have in your martial arts repitoi. thers even a bit of comedy to change the pace which is always a refreshing addition to any action movie. lots of old school fighting with some very unique moves. i never get tired of watching this movie. |
