She used to be the voice of the popular K-pop band S#arp until they disbanded to the disbelief of their fans in 2002. Now Lee Ji Hye' spectacular career as S#arp member may be a thing of the past, but all music lovers have cause to cheer as she returns to the spotlight with her own incredible debut LP. This time around Lee is backed up by such stellar artists like producer Park Koon Tae, songwriter Shim Hyun Bo as well as Kim Woo Jin, and to top it all famous director Kim Ki Duk!
Whereas her main focus as vocalist of S#arp were dance tracks, Lee offers you a fine selection of pop ballad on her premier solo experience. Her principal track "Me without you" presents a pop ballad written by Park Koon Tae. Award-winning director Kim Ki Duk who was responsible for such silver screen extravaganzas as 3-iron and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, And Spring took care of the song's MV for which he came up with the whole story-line just 5 minutes after listening to it. As far as this track is concerned, cinema devotees can look forward to Kim's exceptionally beautiful way of filming, while music lovers are sure to be swept away by Lee's absorbing melodies!

샵 시절 경쾌한 댄스곡으로 익숙했던 이지혜가 특유의 맑고 순수한 목소리로 2년 여 만에 솔로 앨범을 발표하며 한국 대중 음악 여성 발라드의 정수를 보여주려 한다. <그대없이 난>이라는 서정적인 발라드를 타이틀곡으로 하고 있는 이 앨범은 총 11 트랙으로 구성되어있으며 박근태, 심현보, 김우진, 안영민, 이승환 등의 실력 있는 작사, 작곡자들과 강수호(드럼), 길은경(키보드) 등 뛰어난 세션들의 연주로 꾸며져 있다. 1년 반이라는 긴 준비 기간 동안 보컬 트레이닝을 지속적으로 받아온 이지혜의 음성은 특유의 맑고 서정적인 울림을 유지하면서도 깊이가 묻어나는 성숙한 보컬로 재 탄생되었으며 프로듀서를 맡은 박근태의 세련되고 화사한 편곡으로 앨범에 수록된 곡 전체가 타이틀 곡으로 쓸 수 있을 만큼 정성 들여 만든 보기 드문 앨범이라고 말 할 수 있다.

새로운 마음가짐과 첫 솔로앨범으로 다시 출발선상에 선 이지혜에게 아낌없는 지원을 해준 응원군 중에서 총 프로듀서를 맡은 박근태(조PD의 `친구여`, SG워너비의 `Timeless`, 샵의 `그대 입술 따뜻한 커피처럼`, 신화의 `Brand New`의 작곡가이자 브라운아이즈소울의 `우린 정말 사랑했을까` 총 프로듀서)의 손에서 빚어진 보석 같은 발라드는 앨범의 전체 컨셉을 정갈하게 보여주고 있다. [빈집]으로 세계적인 영화감독의 반열에 들어선 김기덕 감독의 경우, 첫 뮤직비디오 작업이었기 때문에 신중을 기했다고 한다. [그대없이 난] 노래를 듣고 난 후 5분만에 스토리 라인을 구성했고, 석모도에서 3일간 진행된 촬영기간 중 출연배우들이 차가운 바닷물 속에서 고생을 해서 만들어진 뮤직비디오는 해외 로케한 뮤직비디오 못지않은 수려한 영상미와 김기덕 감독다운 특이한 스토리가 노래와 어우러져 한편의 단편영화 못지않은 완성도의 뮤직비디오가 탄생되었다. 수 많은 응원군들에게 이지혜는, "도와주신 모든 분들께 보답하는 길은 좀 더 성숙한 가수로서의 모습을 보여드리는 길"이라며 솔로앨범 활동에 의지를 보였다

A Litte Disappointed
| I'm a big S#arp fan so I decided to buy this CD. Even though Ji Hye has a great voice, this album was kinda disappointing for me. Her title song is good, along with 2 or 3 others, but most of the songs weren't all that great. I expected something a little better when redid the song "My Lips Like Warm Coffee". Sadly it was one of my least favorites on this album. If you enjoyed listening to Ji Hye back in the S#arp days then you might like this album. Hopefully if she decides to make a 2nd CD she'll put more dance tracks. |
