Enjoyable, and saddened that there weren't more!

I'm also a Shinhwa fan, so before I go further, I'll warn of the obvious positive opinion I have of Shinhwa, and my favorite member, Lee MinWoo. Due to being busy over the summer, I actually didn't know that MinWoo had released a new 4.5th album called Minnovation although I have all of his previous albums... anyways. Belatedly, I listened to this album, and while some are complaining of the techno-theme of the main song Minnovation, I personally like that genre of music, so I enjoyed it 100%. It caught my ears immediately, and kept me there until the end. It was a nice departure from his other main songs like "Bump!" or "Stomp", and quite different from "Just One Night" or "Don't Trust Men". Very futuristic. :) "Summer Time". At first I thought it was going to be one of those boring songs, but I was pleasantly wrong; the tune and the lyric both are very catchy and works perfectly with MinWoo's voice. If Minnovation is the typical MinWoo style (dance, sexy, solo), Summer Time reminds you of Shinhwa's MinWoo back when he was really cute. :) I really enjoyed the album a lot, and I was sort of sad that he didn't just publish a 5th album with more songs; it really felt like a tease: not enough tracks! |

A little Too Techno! 9/10
|
Since I am Lee Min Woo's fan, so my review can be a little biased. This CD is a little too techno for my taste. If you take apart the music, Lee Min Woo's vocals are really attractive and pleasing. Summer Time is my only 5 stars track and the rest are 4 stars and track 1 is a three stars. Track 4 could easily become a 5 stars track for me if the techno sound is improved slightly. The packaging is really pretty and solid. So get it! I just want to say that I have been completely won over by Lee Min Woo's charisma, innovations, hard works and above all, his attractive vocals and singing skills. Get his CDs with ballads! :) |

i underestimated this album, i love LOVE 4 tracks insanely out of the 6, with Love me icecream being 'ok' and the remix of M style being questionable. I cant give an indepth musical review on in but i am satisfied with my buy, and im already starting to wear out the cd ahhaha. Tracks 1, 3, 4, 5 are my favourite tracks to listen and dance around to. No. 5 is a sexay, sassy song possibly related to Take the Lead with it's classical/modernrnb remix feel. I want to see Minbong tango or DO dosmething with this haha. Summertime is straight off love, its not very hard to be taken by this song. Minnovation, i had to listen to it 3-4 times to grow into it and now it is pure addictive stuff. Go minwoo!! so proud of your composing/lyrical efforts! |

I was expecting a bit more from this album... Minnovation - I didn't really get into it when I heard it. However, I LOVED the PV. I can't listen to the song without the PV... -___- So, hopefully there will be a repackaged version with the PV attached, so I'm a bit hesitant to buy this. Usually if I don't like the hit song, the album doesn't do much for me. Low and behold that's kinda of what happened. Out of 6 songs only 3 really caught my attention... Track 4 is really the ONLY track I really love. It has a nice soft techno feel with a carribean-like flow. This is truly a summer song that I really love. It makes me wanna go to the beach. I love M's method of slurring speech to give the song a certain vibe. This is a song I look forward to seeing him perform if he goes on tour with these songs. ^_^ 5/5 Track 2 Love Me Ice Cream is another nice song that I found a liking to. 4/5 for its nice flow but I think more could've been with the backdrop. Track 3 Summer Time is a nice song that has a driving in a car feel. The beat has a racing style. 4/5 cuz I love the beat but I wish for better vocal work with the melody. His singing is great but when he yells 'MICHEO' and interludes with 'L-O-V-E etc...' are the only times I felt he truly put vocal effort in. I wish he were singing that way throughout the entire song. So, as the description says, this song explores different styles and I understand the concept completely, but I wish they had worked a bit more on it. ^_^ I love the overall style, I just think it needs a little work. |
