　　故事開始自一個美麗的晚上，四位來自不同背景的年輕美女參加選美，（香子欣、舒屏屏、陳可人、孫琳琳）四人都各有目的和抱負。選美過後，各人際遇不同。舒屏屏和香子欣本是一對親生姊妹，父母在她們年幼時分開，母舒家珍（呂有慧飾）帶走屏屏，子欣則被父香細（林兆基飾）搶回。

　　屏屏（陳法蓉飾）當選冠軍後，與富商屠楚雄（任達華飾）發生戀情，終被屠妻寶琴（江美儀飾）的各種卑鄙手段破壞，分手收場。後因父出事，及得雷梓聰（黃智賢飾）相助，結果成為雷家大媳婦……。

　　而其妹香子欣（李麗珍飾）當選亞軍後，自此至終都恨親姊搶走她的一切，包括母親、冠軍寶座及心愛的屠楚雄，二人恩怨糾纏大半生……。另一位落選佳麗陳可人（陳煒飾），被片商睇中拍三級片，但一直無法大紅大紫，最後認了台灣暴發尸魯任松（姜皓文飾）作契爺，甘被玩弄，並終日以食軟性毒品逃避現實……

　　季軍孫琳琳（田蕊妮飾）一心嫁入豪門，與富家子弟雷梓堅（甄志強飾）搭上，成功成為雷家二少奶，不惜用盡方法討家婆歡心，更設法陷害大肚的大嫂屏屏……。

Just wanted to say that this is a really excellent series. This vcd set is great. ABSOLUTELY NO parts were cut from the original story on this vcd set. That's more than I can say for ALL tvb series vcds. I don't understand why TVB can't be more like ATV and release their tv serials in its complete form, instead of cutting parts out. Two thumbs up for ATV!!! Shame on you TVB, for short changing consumers on their purchase!!

Excellent TV Series Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This atv series was really good with simon yam and monica chan. They were the only reason I started to watch the show. In terms of storyline, I only enjoyed it when simon (chris) and monica (rita) were a couple. After rita married tim, the storyline went downhill until the end. So the first 16 episodes are the best and then after that, it's just bad script writing. At the end, I think chris and rita have a chance at reconciliation, but the script left it pretty much open-ended and so, it's up to the viewer's imagination to figure out what happens in the future for chris and rita. But overall, a really good series, better than most tvb series. And I must say, the the quality of the vcd, in terms of video transfer, is better than tvb vcds on sale. The images are clearer and not that fuzzy.

i agree, a lot of people claim for ATV's movies/shows etc. to be bad, but THIS one is AMAZING. great actors, great storyline...definitely my favorite soap opera

What a surprised! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
People usually think ATV's series shows bad. Well, before, mostly are. But nowadays, not really. This is one of the best. I was very surprised when I watched it. I rented one video tape to watch. After that, I rented all of the videos. The story line--very good, you'll know who they are talking about in real life and whom those actors and actresses are playing after watching this. Actors and actresses acting skills and performance----no complaint! My family were surprised to watch such a good series from ATV. Highly recommended.

Monica is pretty good Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
The plot is ok up to ep 15 or 16, once after that it's beginning to show lack of skills on the writer side, usual TVB ending on an ATV series. I'll give it a 10 up to ep 16 and after that 5 so an average of 7
