導演:劉家良
Director: Liu Chia-liang

This production is clearly the culmination of the visionary director’s work, which used the theme of trying to defeat the gun years before Once Upon A Time In China. The innovative, ingenious film also features rarely seen Chinese magician-spies (who would inspire the Japanese ninja). But most importantly, it is a beautifully realized action comedy – showcasing international fan favorites Alexander Fu Sheng and Gordon Liu – which the groundbreaking book on the genre, Martial Art Movies, called “The quintessential Martial Arts Movie” called “the quintessential martial arts movie” and perhaps the greatest kung-fu movie ever made.

What skills Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I agree with Kevin about the paper-thin plot but you cannot deny Sifu Master and Director Lau Kar Leung's display of his handling of all those weapons with his brother Lau Kar Wing is an eye-opener. If you're not trained, like most actors nowadays, you maybe able to shoot a few scenes with specific shots but not in the way the weapons were showcased. Very well done in the fight choreography although the 'tricks' used by Hsiao Hu and Kara Hui were a little over the top. I love the bit when Fu Sheng was hypnotised. Gordon was given a real workout by his brother in their confrontational scene and I wondered if Gordon actually had injuries after all that punching on his back. Many real kungfu exponents find it hard to hold back and do make contact when they shoot fight scenes. Sammo Hung , I read somewhere, is one of them. But I'm sure it's all changed now.

Watch how the experts handle their weapons.

Legendary film from the Shaws Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
"Legendary Weapons of China" may be the best combination of serious martial arts action and kung fu comedy I've seen from Shaw Bros. An amazing cast, with fine performances by Gordon Liu, Kara Hui, Fu Sheng, et al. Naturally, the costuming, set decoration, and cinematography are up to the Shaw's solid standards. The plot of the film is paper-thin, basically just a meager excuse to string together comedic bits and fight scenes. Nevertheless, this film is good fun and very entertaining from start to finish. Very highly recommended for a general audience.

Only for the finale Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
The bulk of this movie seems like it's a combo of trying to make the audience feel there is some important plot to consider & comedic relief in the form of cheap gags. The only thing I would suggest are worth while are some of the training sequences & then the final battle where the "18 legendary weapons" are actually utilized. Do not get this movie for the Gordan Liu/Alexander Fu-sheng factor since niether of them are intigral characters. (they are more like...extended cameos)

Distinctly Average Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
Maybe it's just me, but I found this film very dull. Perhaps Asians and Europeans have very different standards. I can't see how anyone European or from the West, would think this was anything oter than absurd, cheap and frankly stupid and dull. The ridiculous plot involves idiots trying to strengthen their bodies against being shot with rifles and I have just seen too many cheap movies with grown men "fighting" with blatantly fake weapons. The blurb on the back of this film says that it's "perhaps the greatest kung-fu movie ever made". If that's true, then i'm Bruce Lee. It's very, very average at best. If you want a good martial arts movie, check out the 5 Deadly Venoms, Heroes of the East, Zatoichi series, Lone Wolf and Cub... But beware of dodgy film reviews.

IT RARELY GETS BETTER THAN THIS! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
One of the Liu team's finest performances ever. From the intro demonstrating the different weapons with some of this teams best talents.Nothing against Fu Sheng, but Hsiao Ho and Kara Hui do such a fantastic job in this film that Fu's scenes arent really necessary.Be sure and get a chance to see Kara's swordplay agaist Gordon Liu,besides Yeung Jing Jing I believe Kara's techniques are really somthing to witness. The thing about Liu's team that is similar to the Venoms is that they deliver amazing talent in every film just like the Venoms do.Hsaio Ho really displays a lot of his talents as well.Liu gets a chance to show his skill in a practice sequence with Kara. The other film made by this team in 1982 was "Cat Vs. Rat".In my opinion that film is no comparison to this treasure.
