Lexy's in a Rush to hop back into the K-pop scene.
The representative YG Family female rapper has left her mark on the music scene ever since her debut Lexury in 2003. Now it's time for her third highly anticipated major album, a follow-up to 2005's R&B-inspired Lexy in Africa. Her latest principal track is titled "Heading Towards the Top of the Sky" (Track 4), which features a captivating rap section combined with Lexy's enthralling vocals. Perry, who has a solid reputation as producer, arranger, and guest performer for top artists like Jinusean, SE7EN, and Tae Bin, composed the song, which also features Kim Ji Eun. Other highlights to look out for include Super Fly, a collaboration song with Big Bang's Top, Tae Yang, and G-Dragon as well as Boy Left To The Right that features guest artist Masta Wu. Also including Get That, which was penned and arranged by Perry who also appears as guest vocalist. Lexy's groovy Rush should have no problem seducing new and old devotees alike.

스스로 음악적 스타일에서의 대변신을 예고한지 1년만인 2007년 봄, 렉시가 새 앨범을 발표한다.
2003년 “애송이”, “Girls”, “Let me dance”등의 곡과 함께 많은 사람들의 기대 속에 솔로 앨범을 발표, ‘터프한 여성 솔로’라는 새로운 여가수의 위상을 선보였던 렉시가 2005년에 발표한 2집 “눈물씻고 화장하고”는 많은 사랑을 받았던 1집에 비해 부진했던 것은 사실이다. 당시 최신 트렌드를 접목한 타이틀곡 “눈물씻고 화장하고”가 음악적 완성도를 인정받았던 것과 달리 대중들은 섹시함을 어필하는 렉시의 새로운 컨셉에 적응하지 못했고, 예상치 못했던 대중의 반응에 렉시의 부담감이 가중되어, 결국에는 2집 활동을 채 마치지 못했던 것이다. 인정할 수 밖에 없었던 2집의 실패는 렉시에게 스스로를 돌아보는 계기가 되어 렉시의 새로운 이미지 정립을 재촉해 왔다. 대중이 바라는 렉시의 모습이 렉시 스스로가 원하는 자신의 모습이 되기까지 1년 이상의 긴 자신과의 싸움이 계속되었고, 이제 군더더기를 훌훌 털고 일어선 렉시가 3집 앨범 ‘RUSH’를 들고 나섰다.
하늘 위로, LEXY 가 날아 오르다.
새로운 렉시의 이번 3집 앨범을 가장 집약적으로 보여주는 곡은 바로, 타이틀곡 ‘하늘위로’ 라고 할 수 있다. 빠른 비트 위에 그루브한 멜로디, 그와 같이 흘러가는 렉시의 적절한 보컬과 단련된 랩핑. 거기에 YG 뉴페이스 ‘김지은’의 세련된 목소리가 어우러져 매끈하게 다듬어진 느낌을 주는 ‘하늘위로’ 는, 사실 2집에 실망한 대중들이 렉시에게 원했던 딱 그대로의 모습은 아니다. 오히려 2집 ‘눈물씻고 화장하고’ 와 연장선에 있는 듯 느껴지기까지 하는 ‘하늘 위로’ 는 전작을 작업한 용감한 형제가 이번에도 역시 페리와 공동 프로듀싱한 것에도 이유가 있을 것이다. 그러나, 섹시하면서 터프한 렉시의 새로운 진면목은 지난 4월 7일 세븐의 단독 콘서트를 통해 증명되었다. 거칠게 무대를 장악한 렉시의 ‘하늘 위로’ 믹스 버전은 최신 트렌드인 ‘트랜스’의 옷을 입고 날아올랐고, 지난 주말 내내 주요 포탈 사이트의 검색 순위에 상위 랭크되었다. 첫 무대로 한껏 ‘하늘 위로’ 날아오른 렉시는 이제 시작일 뿐이다. As other people have said, the beats in this album are off the chart. Perry, "the number 1 hip hop producer" put a lot of effort into this album. **Perry is responsible for producing many popular hits for Seven, Jinusean, 1TYM, Wheesung, etc. (he pretty much is involved with all of YG Family's artists. If you like a song from YG don't be surprised if it has his name on it) In this album Perry composed pretty much every song, except the remix. So far this is my favorite album from Lexy. Her first two albums did not showcase much of her rapping ability, but instead her singing. Her singing ability is so so, and there are people that say she can not sing. Lexy's voice is very unique, if it's your first time listening to her, you may get surprised.. Her natural voice is very low, but has a high pitch, which is not a good mix for singing ballads. But when it comes to rapping, she's unstoppable. In this album she is accommodated by many artists such as, Big Bang, Masta Wu, and Perry. But the most important guest in her album is YG New Face, Kim Ji-eun. Ji-eun's voice is amazing, she is an awesome ballad singer. Her voice is very high, but it is unbelievably Strong. Ji-eun and Lexy are a very good combination, and they perform together in many of the songs in the album. All in all, this album is a must listen. It has hip hop, techno, and r&b. Lexy also raps a whole song in English! Her pronunciation is very good, she can flows very well in English and Korean. Lexy is hands down, The Queen of Hip Hop! |

when i first heard that lexy was coming out with another album, i was kinda worried, because her last one didnt do that well on the charts, but it turns out that i neednt have worried so much because it turns out, that this album is AMAZING! the beats are all fresh & danceable & her cocals/rapping skills are better than ever! plus, this album features so many talented artists, all of whom bring different styles & flavours into the songs,, my favourite tracks are: hanawiro, superfly, babyboy & rush. i think everyone should give it a listen. its seriously a great album! |
