This quiet tearjerker is based on the life of Japan's most prominent professional windsurfer, Iijima Natsuki, who passed away from cancer on February, 28, 2005 at the age of 38. Iijima's memoir detailing his fight against illness and his final days with his family became a bestseller in Japan, selling 220,000 copies. After Iijima passed away, Fuji TV also aired a touching documentary about him and the program was widely praised by viewers, inspiring even greater interest in the life of this courageous man.
Popular actor Osawa Takao (Midnight Eagle) portrays Iijima Natsuki in Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara, a touching biopic based on the late windsurfer's own writings. The film follows Iijima's struggles after being diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, and how he come to terms with his illness with the support of his wife Hiroko (Ito Misako, Yomigaeri) and four children. Surrounded by the ocean and his beautiful family, Iijima bravely approaches the final leg of life's journey in Hawaii in smiling peace.

Despite this set back, with the love and devotion of his wife Hiroko and four children, he decides to live life the best he can, to the fullest, without having his life prolonged with further treatment.
