Louisa May Alcott's novel Little Women has become a worldwide classic ever since its first publication in 1869. Various versions of the book depicting the lives of four vivacious women have made their ways into films and televisions. SBS presents their own interpretation with Little Women, a poignant drama that addresses the importance of family ties through the tales of four sisters and the numerous conflicts stemming from their idiosyncrasies and intertwined love relationships. At the center of their friction is the domineering father whose obsession with having a male offspring leads him to commit adultery, only to leave him with more unwanted daughters. Such a selfish act not only strains his marriage but also robs his daughters of much deserved fatherly love and affection. A 21st century tale of love and ambition, Little Women, which first aired in 2004, features an all-star cast that includes Park Ye Jin (Something Happened In BaliLobbyist), Park Eun Hye (Dae Jang Geum), and Lee Yoon Mi (Fly High).

Always the quiet, angel type who brings home good grades, eldest daughter Hae Deuk (Park Ye Jin) is daddy's most treasured prize, but beneath the surface lies painful memories of her father's affairs and extreme loneliness from having to meet everyone's expectations. Second daugher Mi Deuk (Yoo Sun) is the ugly duckling in the family who handles all of the nitty-gritty work, from fighting off a gang of thugs threatening her father to earning money delivering newspapers so her youngest sister can afford new clothes. The wide contrast between Hae Deuk and Mi Deuk ultimately leads to a fiery sibling rivalry, which exasperates when Hae Deuk's private tutor Sun Woo (Kim Ho Jin, Sunshine Hunting) stumbles into their lives.
