A great companion to the DVD! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Never having seen Delico in concert, their live DVD "In Concert at Budokan," released last December, made for extremely awesome proof of what the band is capable of outside the studio. In fact, I now prefer the live versions of two of their songs (see below), versus the studio cuts, based purely on watching "Budokan" a handful of times.

If you currently own "Budokan" but don't want to purchase their new album, "Live Psychedelico," because you think it is a track-for-track rehashing of the DVD, think again. While many of the songs from "Budokan" appear on this album, it has enough new tracks -- and an entirely different "feel" altogether -- to warrant becoming part of your CD collection.

Now, I'm heavily biased and pick up everything Delico releases, but I have to say this is a truly great album -- no strings attached. Just so you know, here are the tracks from "Budokan" that didn't make the cut for this album:
- "Standing Bird"
- "fleeing star"
- "fantastic world"
- "Everyone, everyone"

To counteract that, here are the album-exclusive tracks, not found on the DVD:
- "Life goes on"
- "These days"
- "My last fight"
- "O"
- "A DAY FOR YOU"

So basically, you lose four great tracks from the DVD, but gain five that are just as good (and, in some cases, better) for the album. Seventeen total songs between "Budokan" and "Live Psychedelico" is more than enough reason to buy both, but we're talking about the album here.

The fact that the two best performances (these are the ones I was talking about) from the DVD, "Wasting" and "neverland," are included on the album alone makes "Live Psychedelico" worth buying. I now have portable versions of the songs, complete with Naoki Sato's sprawling, gorgeous, blues-tinged guitar intros. Sato manages to turn each into a completely different song, while at the same time vastly improving on the original versions.

Other highlights are the inclusion of my all-time favorite Delico song, "Life goes on," a rousing rendition of which is given, and the album's finale, "A DAY FOR YOU." Where the DVD ended on a festive, energetic note with "Everyone, everyone," the album closes with a moving version of the final track from Delico's first album, "The Greatest Hits." Both endings work, and it's great to see the band taking two different routes with which to end their prospective live projects.

In closing, I just have to say that if you consider yourself a Delico fan, "Live Psychedelico" will only serve to strengthen that feeling.
