Johnny Mak's gritty crime classic Long Arm of the Law (1984) is long held to be one of the best Hong Kong films of all-time. He produced the sequel three years after the original, but handed over the directing duties to his younger brother, Michael Mak. Together they revamped the cast with TVB leading man Alex Man, Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress Pauline Wong, character actor Elvis Tsui, and newcomer Ben Lam, who was awarded Best New Performer at the 7th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in this film.

Troubled by the menace of new immigrants from China that are wreaking havoc in town, the Royal Hong Kong Police Force have no choice but to enlist the help of law enforcers from north of the border.
