Centering on the legendary life of Qi Zi-jun, one of the Jin merchants who controlled the financial world in the Qing Dynasty, Long Piao unearths the deeper as well as the darker side of the inter-relationship between the economy and the politics at that time of China. Featuring Huang Xiao-ming, Xiu Qing, Zhu Lin and many more famous names in the mainland showbiz, this costume drama gets you hooked up with the intricacies of the plot that mixes the love triangle perfectly up with a survival test of wit and wisdom in the business domain contaminated by the corrupt and rotten bureaucracy.

During the years of Dao Guang in the Qing Dynasty, the appearance of Long Piao in a lazurite factory draws a swarm of followers including Qi Zi-jun and many other dignitaries and royal figures. As the offspring of the company Yi Cheng Xin, Qi is however set up and wanted by the law. To redeem his integrity and, more importantly, his business, Qi faces up to the leading power of the imperial court by declaring a bloodless war in the commercial battlefield. Entwined in the rise and decline in Qi's life also includes his romantic relationships with Run Yu and Princess Yu Lin.

Highly Recommended Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
One of the best TV productions made in China in recent years, although I don't get to see Chinese TV dramas very often. The script,acting,production design and the music were all outstanding. The subject matter may not be everyone's cup of tea, nevertheless, the acting was brilliant. Especially Huang Xiaoming, his portrayal of the main character Qi Zi-jun was an unexpected surprise. Highly recommended.

This series is one of the great ones. It is meaningful and also intriguing. I am not one who likes to watch historic, serious dramas, but I have put this series into one of my fav list.

Good story and great casting. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is one of the rare, great, serious, and valuable series done in the recent years by China. The story is great, and the castings are also great. The actors/actresses fit their roles real well, even with the minor roles. The leading actors, Huang Xiao Ming and Xiu Qing, did superb jobs in portraying Qi Ji Jun and Duke Gong. I enjoyed the times when they were on screen the most. I would recommend this series to everyone who like to watch serious, realistic, and meaningful dramas.
