It's been too long since Maaya's had a new song, and LOOP does not disappoint! She truly has the voice of an angel, and it shines through clearly in this song. With an acoustic guitar as her primary accompaniment, the purity of her voice really draws the listener into what seems like a folk tale being told by a beautiful ethereal presence. Not many singers have a voice with the rhythm and depth that Maaya does, and it is on full display in LOOP. While I don't believe the instrumentals are as strong as Cloud 9 (composed by Yoko Kanno, Wolf's Rain OST2), the exquisite lyrics of LOOP really add another dimension of depth. The first line of the refrain translates to something like "if this world was flat, the two of us would never have met," which is probably where the title of the song is derived from. A perfect choice for the ending theme of Tsubasa Chronicle, LOOP is defintely one of Maaya's finest. Hopefully she will continue with her music on a more consistent basis. |
