情侶家銳（陳奕迅飾）與靖儂（周麗淇飾）感情穩定，過著平淡的生活。為了給這段關係帶來新衝擊，二人決定自費到日本旅行，然而家銳為助朋友而動用了旅行資金，靖儂怒不可遏，但最後二人和好，繼續旅程。不幸出發當日家銳的車被偷，二人吵了起來並道出對對方多年來的不滿，靖儂一氣之下提出分手。家銳獨自踏上旅途，途中發現失車，上前查看時被劫匪華頭（王志文飾）用槍指嚇，華頭更當場槍殺巡警，家銳大驚。華頭得悉家銳是護士，威脅他到其家中醫治其受傷的同伴，家銳無奈答應。家銳擔心靖儂遇險，於是在離開前偷偷拿了他與靖儂的情侶通話機手錶。靖儂回家後發現有異，此時華頭的同伴突然死去，華頭欲殺家銳洩忿。靖儂得悉家銳遇害傷心欲絕，此時靖儂的手錶收到微弱訊號，她深信家銳仍然生存，於是跟好友們四出搜尋，誓要把家銳救出險境…
To give their relationship some new excitements, lovers Eason and Niki are planning to spend their holidays together in Japan. However, Eason gives almost all his money to help his friends who are in trouble. Though furious, Niki forgives Eason at last and goes on planning their vacation. Unfortunately, Eason's car is stolen on the day they depart. Niki and Eason are frustrated and have a big quarrel. Niki wants to break up and leaves Eason going to Japan alone. On his way to airport, Eason finds his stolen car and a robber called Wah hiding in the truck. Knowing Eason is a nurse, Wah threatens him to help save his wounded friend while he shoots a patrolling police to death. Scared, Eason brings them to his home and stealthily takes away his walkie-talkie watch which Niki also has one.
Wah's friend dies on the way of their operation. Wah blames Eason on it and decides to burn him to death. Niki's heart is broken when she sees a badly burnt corpse. Suddenly her walkie-talkie watch rings, which makes Niki believe that Eason is still alive. She therefore goes out and looks for Eason with her friends, knowing that she is the only one who can save Eason out of danger…

Well that was a surprise. Absolutely no expectations for this film. Have heard vague rumours that this was a good film but have been so preoccupied lately that I only paid them lip service. In retrospect, I don't even think I paid much attention to the synopsis walking into the film. And any of you who do have plans to see this film, I think this is probably the best state to see this film in - so stop reading now. That's right. Just go and see the film. It is worth your while. I start talking about it and it'll be like me telling you the girl in the Crying Game is a man. Still reading? Well I tried. Look. Love Battlefield starts off like a rom-com with what seems like a premise akin to Love on the Rocks that soon turns itself completely around into a hostage drama with some very cool mainland gansters. See. That plot twist alone is revealed in the synopsis, and my experience of not expecting it at all gave it so much weight when it did happen that I was completely blown away. Anyway, trying to keep it general. OK, the two head gangsters are just amazing with a real emotional depth to their character that puts the opening relationship to shame. I suppose the rest of the gang don't have much development but then they don't have much more than supporting roles so OK, the thug is pretty much just a thug. Performances from Niki and Eason are really quite good. Their insipid behaviour in the beginning is such contrast to the eventful nature of their relationship as it develops under the adversity of the kidnapping until the very end that is an absolute joy to watch unfold. The direction is really quite surprising as well. It is really interesting how it maintains and builds tension while gradually telegraphing the outcome in a manner I haven't seen before. Once the film gets going, there is that real and constant sense of desperation that permeates the film and yet the characters react in a quite a sympathetic manner. I repeat - Love Battlefield is an amazing film that is suspenseful and surprisingly emotional. | This movie is truly excellent in everyway and the story is very original. The film started out slow and when all the pieces put together and wham! It will take you to the next level, like you were locked up along with Eason throughout the entire kidnap process. For me, there were nothing but praises thought out the entire movie, in particular the drowning scene was very touching near the end of the film; I don't believe my eyes were all watery when I watched it every time. I highly recommended this one to anyone, as I still remember clearly what this movie is all about since I watched it long time ago. Go grab it! You wont be disappointed! |

Yeah that would be the best way to describe this film actually. When I first saw this one a while back I really liked the drama and action parts of the film. the main actors plays their roles really great and makes it belivable that a situation like this can happen, even if the chances are more than slim *haha* Anyhow.. great acting, really good story, funny moments, sad moments, romantic moments and action moments.. I fully recomend this movie.. |

pretty good movie for a hk movie. wasn't much as i expected cuz this movie was intense, plus quite different from the way as it is film, which i thought was kool. geez hk movies are improvin. i thought some scenes coulda been better liek the beginning but still good. though this movie got lots of like symbolism stuff, like alots of foreshadowin. darkness as the mood. but some scenes was a bit gorey for me, cuz the shootin stuff and that one dude dyin likethat by a car. but yea this movie is also sad as in love sad. |
