Hong Kong young idols Alex Fong and Stephy Tang make the perfect silver screen couple, enjoying overwhelming popularity among Hong Kong youngsters, from their musical duets to their recent box office success Love Is Not All Around. In 2006 they led the cast of painter-turned-director Chen Yifeng's Love in Macau, a film supported by Macau Government's Tourist Office. Macau-born painter Chen, recently starting his filming career, showcases the beauty of his hometown in Love in Macau, set in the historical city of Macau in 1943 during the Sino-Japanese war. A Mainland Chinese refugee (Aixinjueluo Qixin, descendent of China's last emperor) falls in love with a local Macau guy (Alex Fong), without knowing that her friend (Stephy Tang) has been his secret admirer for years... A rare Macau local production, Love in Macau even became the first Macau film to be released in Mainland China since the city's change of sovereignty in 1999.

一九四三年的澳門，抗日戰爭進入了激烈殘酷的最後階段。澳門由於政治地位特殊，避過了被日本占領的命運。故事的女主角素心（愛心覺羅啟星 飾）是一名格格，父女兩落難來到澳門，粵劇班裡當小角色。素心經常受劇團中的刀馬旦賴蓮英的欺負。

男主角洪洋（方力申 飾）是一名記者，挺身而出維護素心，兩人暗生情愫。素心有一知心姊妹，千花苑的紅歌姬楚艷紅（鄧麗欣飾），兩人情同姐妹，艷紅本來一直暗戀她的一名遠房表哥，後來發覺表哥竟是素心的男朋友—洪洋。洪洋介紹素心到國語研習班當上小助教，生活有所改善。更因素心有武藝底子，被班主選中做了刀馬旦，令賴蓮英大為忌妒。賴蓮英因欠賭債，被漢奸利用，設計陷害素心。素心落入圈套，險被污辱。楚艷紅以自己的色相救了素心，素心事業愛情都有進展，只是突傳噩耗，父親在演出時從高處摔下跌死，素心悲慟至極。而此時洪洋為了去送一部電台給遊擊隊而要離開澳門，洪洋很不放心，但素心還是支援洪洋。兩人來到了崗頂戲院話別，情訂今生，洪洋在一古典的鋼琴凳的背面刻上了兩顆心，而素心用筆寫下了1945幾個紅字，兩人相約六十年後一定要回到澳門。兩人分別，素心日夕念，突然聽到消息：有青年被漢奸槍殺，趕到現場拾得洪洋所戴的帽子，還見一大灘鮮血，認定洪洋已死，痛不欲生，曾去投靠艷紅，最後不知所蹤。抗戰勝利，原來洪洋並沒有死，被殺的是掩護他戴了他帽子的同志鍾華。洪洋回到澳門找到楚艷紅。楚艷紅把素心的遭遇告之洪洋，洪洋哀傷之極離開澳門。

相隔六十年，洪洋重臨澳門，今晚，在大三巴這?舉行一場紀念抗戰勝利六十年的演奏會。觀眾離席散去，老人走上舞臺，把那張古典鋼琴凳子翻轉一看。六十年前刻下的心型還可見。驚奇的是，除了1945的字跡外，還有新寫的’2005’幾個字，老人一看驚愕不已！難道素心尚在人間？

This film tells a story that happened in the 1940's when Hong Kong and many parts of China fell into Japanese hands. Because of the understanding Japan had with Portugal not to invade Macau., then a Portugal not to invade Macua, then a Portuguese colony, throngs of people flocked to the enclave to seek a safe haven. Among the people who fled there were a reporter and a direct descendent of the royal family of the Qing Dynasty, who would have been a royal princesshad the rule of the Qing Dynasty continued. Through the story of how they met and fell in love, and the dilemma they faced, the film gives a glimpse of the direcircumstances of the time and the jittery life of people. Yet there were still people who contributed in whatever ways they could to the querilla warfare against the Japanese. They were various associations under different pretences for the patriotic cause. One of the groups, which did exist, called themselves the eight fairies in the Chines folklore....
