Is there really such a thing as the highest point in life? Gunther (August Diel) and Paul (Daniel Bruhl) are convinced of it: They want to live as fully as possible, without compromise, and expect exactly as much from love. Together with Gunther's sister Hilde. (Anna Maria Muhe) the two spend the weekend at a summerhouse in the country. Paul is fascinated with Hilde and quickly falls in love. At first it appears that she responds to his passion, but it turns out that Hilde loves others as well. Secretly she meets with Hans... Gunther's former lover. In the garden of the house they celebrate with a huge blowout of a party. When Hans unexpectedly arrives, he sets into motion a rollercoaster of emotions that quickly spirals out of control. High on Absinthe and music, overtaken by powerful longings and their greed for life, they are all soon dragged down into a deadly vortex of desire and frustration...
