Packaging = first class, CD = could be better Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Alan undoubtedly has one of the best singing voices on the planet today. It is powerful, breathtaking, emotional and humble all at the same moment. The only problem in my mind is that sometimes her songs don’t showcase her true talent and are simply made to satisfy current pop music trends in Japan. Her best work always has a more traditional Tibetan vibe that allows her to unleash her amazing wailing vocals. So when her new Chinese album came out I was full of excitement in the hope that they would be more traditional songs than pop oriented ones …. but again I was a little disappointed. All the songs are brilliantly performed by Alan but none of them really allow her to push her vocals. Tracks 1 and 2 are two of the four original songs on this album and are probably the best of the new material. But in fairness the best songs are tracks 5 (Nobody Knows But Me) and 6 (My Life). These are both Chinese remakes of Japanese songs on her latest J-album My Life and they are ultimately the two standout songs on this album. Just like the Japanese version Nobody Knows But Me is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I have heard and I highly recommended that any music lovers checks this out because it may prove a hidden musical gems for you! The last song is just a piano only version of track 2 but even though Alan’s vocals are missing it’s very nice listening and will please many a classical music buff.

The packaging for this album is outstanding as it is roughly 8 x 10 inches in size and therefore features a couple of lovely pictures of the beautiful Alan. You also get a poster of her and several more photos on the lyric book. As a bonus a postcard advertising Alan’s first concert is also included (a concert I highly recommended that you try to watch). Also included is a DVD with 4 MVs on it which, as always, shows off Alan’s beauty and sensitivity as well as her vocal talent.

All in all fans of Alan MUST buy this more for the incredible packaging and MVs than the CD itself. If you are new to Alan check out her live concert and if you don’t fall in love with her …. well ….. then ….. I’ll eat my hat!!!!
