Bold, elegant and groundbreaking--everything I exp Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Love Psychedelico debuted in 2001 with their cleverly titled album "The Greatest Hits." They followed that up in 2002 with "Love Psychedelic Orchestra," rewriting the book on how sophomore albums are supposed to sound. And now, with "Love Psychedelico III," they have offered their seething but well-mannered fans musical release, while at the same time debunking whatever hurtful words a handful of cynical, elitist might have had in store for a band that couldn't possibly get better with each album. Could they?
They could, and did.
"III" takes Love Psychedelico into the realm of a few brave, new genres and it does so flawlessly, as if they have been R&B or alternative rock acts since their beginning. The best examples of this are in the tracks "Mind across the universe" and "all over love," lead singer KUMI sounding more like Misia than Misia in the latter and channeling American acts like Pearl Jam or Tool in the former. The singles "I am waiting for you," "Naked King" and "My last fight" add some familiarity for nervous first-time listeners and make them full-time fans in the process.
"Everybody needs somebody" is a classic example of what has now become an almost mathematical formula for Love Psychedelico's opening tracks: familiar sounding, but meant that way to start the album off with a little bit of toe-tapping. The rest of their new tracks don't disappoint either, with "Hello," "neverland" and "Silver dust lane" rounding out the tail end.
I just haven't been able to get enough of this band since I heard them three years ago, religiously checking their Web site for any updates and being the first in line at Tsutaya to get their new singles. They are simply a great band with catchy hooks and myriads of great influences who continue to impress.
Love Psychedelico are somewhat of an anomaly in the glossy, gorgeous and occasionally goofy world of Japanese pop. But rest assured, music fans from all over the world--me included--are grateful for that.

Solid 3rd Outing From A Psychedelic Duo Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
The cover art of "Love Psychedelico III" features a birthday cake and that's exactly what this album is about --- a celebration of the group's success. Some people have criticised Love Psychedelico's style as being pretentious pseudo-rock but fans who have enjoyed their songs know better. Love Psychedelico has become a class of its own. While their 2nd album "Love Psychedelico Orchestra" is more thematic, emphasizing on a continuous stream of mood, their 3rd outing is a throwback to their debut, offering a variety of different mood and sounds. It's not a bad thing, considering this album is jam-packed with stunning tracks. The opening track is standard Love Psychedelico fare, sure to satisfy old fans. Before you protest the group's lack of growth, listen to the 3rd track "all over love" for a smoother Love Psychedelico, an example of their enormous talent and effort to move onto less familiar territory. "Happiness" and "Fleeing Star" are high energy "happy" tracks that go well with the theme of celebration. It has none of the previous angst that dominates their previous albums but they work very well here. "My Last Fight", "I am waiting for you" and the 8th track are popular singles released prior to this album. There are no fillers in this album, each track is a little gem. The closing track "Grapefruits", reminiscent of "Lady Madonna", is a fitting conclusion to the album. It begins with the line "You don't believe it!", a possible retaliation to those who thought that Love Psychedelico has ran out of ideas. As this album has shown, they still have lots of nice tricks up their sleeves. Rating: A-

Recommended tracks: "All over love", track 8, "Happiness", "My Last Fight", "Fleeing star", "Hello" and all the 7 other tracks ;P
