　　出生於法律界世的金賢宇到美國哈佛大學攻讀法律系，邂逅了同校的醫科生李秀茵。秀茵雖然成績優異，但家境並不富裕，靠做兼職賺取學費及生活費，也因此不談愛情，專心學業。金賢宇的同系同學洪政民生於小康之家，由於政民父親在一次商業訴訟中，敗在賢宇當律師的父親手中而自殺，故政民敵視賢宇，怎料兩人同時愛上的秀茵，加上學業上的競爭，造成兩人誓不兩立。專心學業和工作的秀茵，對賢宇漸生好感，二人開始交往，但後來秀茵要到非洲籌辦醫療活動，竟跟賢宇不辭而別。
