World Class Music Concert from HK

This is one of the best concert in Hong Kong, if the viewer is interested in music more than the production (e.g. fireworks, costumes, dancers...). After I saw it the first time, I can't think of a more solid pop/rock concert from HK than this one. Mr. Loo said before that a music concert should be about music instead of the gimmicks and he showed that it could be done. This concerts is about a singer/songwriter/composer sharing his honest thoughts, emotions, and his music with the audience. It is a very intimate and touching experience. In addition to new arrangements of the music, we are listening to the writer presenting the songs in his own unique way. A good portion of it will have only Lowell with the guitar on stage. The song choices and the quality of songs are quite good. This format allows us to focus on enjoying the music. The musicians involved were some of the best in Hong Kong. It is an all star lineup. The fact that the top guitarists (Joey Tang, So Doug Wa...) playing with Lowell is one of the high points of the concert. There were a few guest artists. My personal favorite was YoYo's performance with Lowell. It was very beautiful. Also, the "making of" disc is quite enjoyable with extra footage in Beijing and the concert. Besides the concert, the DVD production and package was also very good. The video clarity and the easy of use of the package is appreciated. Very elegant but not overdone. The only thing I kept thinking is that I wish Lowell spent more time on the movie songs section and perform the song for John Woo's "The Killer" movie with Lyrics by James Wong originally sang by Sally Yeah and the song for Jakie Chan's "Double Dragon" movie originally sang by Shirley Kwan. May be next concert will have them? |

Touching performance

I am so glad Lowell Lo has a concert again after 18 years. No fancy clothing. No make-up. Pure music. Very simple. Amazingly touching! |
