"3집 앨범 [국경의 밤]을 발매한 지 만으로 2년이 지나 2009년 12월, 드디어 저의 정규 4집 앨범 [레미제라블]을 세상에 내놓게 되었습니다.
그 사이 시간은 금새 지났고, 저에겐 너무나 많은 변화가 있었습니다. 3집을 내놓을 때만 해도 고국을 떠나 멀리 스위스에 있었지만, 지금은 고국으로 돌아와 음악에만 전념하며 하루하루를 보내고 있으니까요.
하지만, 이번 4집 앨범의 제목이 된 ‘레미제라블’에 대한 아이디어는 대략 2년여 전부터 이미 제 머리 속에 있었습니다.
장발장이 주인공인 빅토르 위고의 동명 소설에서 이 제목을 착안했으리라는 건 다들 짐작하시겠지만, 사실 이번 앨범에 수록될 곡들은 바로 그 소설, ‘레미제라블’과는 전혀 관계가 없습니다.
다만, 빅토르 위고의 동명 소설에 나오는 수많은 사람들 - 주로 불행하게 살고 죽어간 사람들 - 의 모습 속에서 지금 현재 우리의 모습을 비춰보고 싶었고, 지금 현재를 살아가고 있는 우리 사람들의 이야기를 좀 더 자세하게 하나하나 써보고 싶었습니다. 그래서 ‘레미제라블’이란 앨범 타이틀을 붙이게 되었지요.
아무튼 앨범에 실린 곡들에 대한 설명은 음반 소개의 글에서가 아닌, 음반에 실린 노래 속 제 목소리로 대신하는게 나을 듯 합니다. 더 추운 겨울이 오기 전에 음반 속에서 제가 하고 싶었던 많은 이야기들을 하루 빨리 많은 분들과 나누고 싶으니까요.

A happier Lucid Fall
|
My first encounter with Lucid Fall happened with "A Walk Around The Corner Project Album". Since then, I was impressed with his sounds from Bus stop and his first album. But I stopped listening after Vol 2's Oh Love, which i thought was a little too ... indie. So i was truly stunned when I heard his latest album at the record store. This album is by the happiest and also the one that I like best so far. I fell in love immediately with the bossa nova track 7 but after hearing track 10, I couldnt leave the store without buying the album. 알고 있어요 is a breezy, lucid tune accompanied wonderfully by folk guitars, percussion and piano. Dreamingly good~ |
