The Avenging Eagle

September 26, 2006 Nothing specialThis was a very average film, in my opinion. I was very disappointed, considering the cast. I didn't like any of the characters, the fights were ok, but nothing special, the ubiquitous fake weapons were used too much and it had a totally unimaginative plot. Watchable but definitely not a keeper.

Legendary Weapons of China (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)

September 25, 2006 Distinctly AverageMaybe it's just me, but I found this film very dull. Perhaps Asians and Europeans have very different standards. I can't see how anyone European or from the West, would think this was anything oter than absurd, cheap and frankly stupid and dull. The ridiculous plot involves idiots trying to strengthen their bodies against being shot with rifles and I have just seen too many cheap movies with grown men "fighting" with blatantly fake weapons. The blurb on the back of this film says that it's "perhaps the greatest kung-fu movie ever made". If that's true, then i'm Bruce Lee. It's very, very average at best. If you want a good martial arts movie, check out the 5 Deadly Venoms, Heroes of the East, Zatoichi series, Lone Wolf and Cub... But beware of dodgy film reviews.

Legend of The Wolf

September 18, 2006 WeakI've got to say I'm amazed by the other reviews. I don't understand how anyone could think this was anything near good, let alone excellent. Yes, it was made extremely cheaply. And it shows. The biggest disappointment tho and the thing that lets this film down completely is that all the fight scenes are awful! The director has tried to make them very fast and dynamic, but what you get is lots of weapons clashing at such speed that you can't actually see anything. It's full of nauseating shots that flash for a split second and are gone. There is not a single decent fight scene in the entire movie. Very poor.

September 14, 2006 Could have been so much betterCapsule review: beautifully shot, touching love story, but VERY disappointing when it came to the many Ninja characters and their skills. Most of the Ninja are dead within second of seeing them fight!? Why? Why? So disappointing! This could have been a brilliant film if only some effort had been put into the fight scenes. One to rent, not to buy, unless you don't enjoy fight scenes.

Shaolin Monk (Eng Dubbed) (US Version)
Shaolin Monk (Eng Dubbed) (US Version) DVD Region All
(1)Our Price: US$10.99Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysSeptember 14, 2006 An Atrocious Rip-OffBe Warned - this film is a complete rip-off and awful in every sense. It claims to be about Tamo, the legendary monk who helped create The Shaolin Temple and develop its 5 animal styles of Kung-Fu. It definitely is not!!! I bought this because of its claims and was totally conned! At NO point does the character Tamo do ANYTHING towards creating The Shaolin Temple or to use or develop these 5 styles of Kung-Fu. Half of the film has no relevance to Tamo or The Shaolin Temple, it's just the same, lame revenge for my family rubbish. It is badly dubbed, has bad sound, copied-straight-from video bad picture, not widescreen adapted - so lots of the action happens off your screen, and boring fight scenes. Totally awful and NOT what it says on the box! I'm asking for my money back. Don't buy it! Don't even rent this trash!

Ten Tigers Of Kwang Tung (Hong Kong Version)

September 14, 2006 So Disappointing!Of couse I bought this film because of all its stars. BE WARNED - the translators and producers at Celestial Pictures should be shot! Each of the Ten Tigers has his name and particular skill, but unless you speak Mandarin or Cantonese, you'll never know who is who! That might not sound like much, but it's very important to this film and RUINED my enjoyment of this film. Celestial, whilst providing film fans a GREAT service with their reproductions, are negligent, lazy and substandard in their English translations. Character's names appear on screen, but infuriatingly, they are NEVER given in English. Now in a film such as THE FIVE VENOMS, this isn't so important as you can deduce who is who, but here and in all other films, it really spoils your enjoyment when ALL the Chinese characters that appear on screen are left untranslated.
So disappointing!

The Angry Guest (Hong Kong Version)
September 14, 2006 So BadI bought this film because of it's stars: Ti Lung, Yasuaki Kurata & Bolo Yeung. Mr Kurata & Mr Yeung are hardly in this film at all and NEVER have a chance to display any of their fighting skills!?! How disappointing! Yes, the director makes a rare appearance, but this can only be because he was told to add something to this cheap, trite, awful, mind-numbingly boring and terribly made film. Please avoid.
