Bland remake

I don't see the point in this remake as both Yu An An and Nancy Hu do not have half the charisma and character of Betty Pei Tih and Lily Ho in the original. Clearly by 1984, director Chu Yuan had lost his touch. His ideas of new wave wu xia are ridiculously modern sets and contemporary-looking lingerie for the 2 girls? There are no solid production values here and the plot is almost non-existent. Why cast these 2 girls in an exploitation movie like this one if both are unwilling to bare? To make it worse, they have no acting skills to fall back on. So this movie is bland and very boring. It is a waste of Celestial's resources to remaster such a movie when there are so many treasures left in the vault. |
