Just get the reviews from the fansites, it is really a good anime. If you're a Macross fan you prob. already have it. But the price is really high...

30 minutes too short Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
Man I bought this DVD (import release) hoping to find some Macross Plus OVA type episodes in them. Unforunately I found out it was only one 30 minute episode of the announced 5 part series! It's kind of dissappointing since the original Macross series consists of 35 episodes and people usually get the Robotech release for 4-5 episodes! Well that's the bad part. The good part is the story that everyone has been waiting for. This is the pre-qual to the orginal Macross story. It talks about how UN-Spacey came about, and how the original Valkrye's were born. This episode shows Leiutenant Rory Focker as an ace pilot fighting an unknown enemy. The episode is so quick, you'll get trapped right into the buying the second part of this OVA. Yeah, I'm bummed out but I have to buy the second DVD now. I think I said the same thing about Blue Submarine No. 6 when they release it in a 4 dvd/4 part series.

Shoji Kawamori comes back for Macross Plus. He is the true master mind of mecha designs and a truthful love story. As a kid I loved watching Robotech Macross Saga. In Macross Plus, the old Roy Focker story is somewhat revisited. As two new Valkyre fighters are being tested by two great UN Spacy pilots, Isamu Dyson and Zentradi Guld Bowman. This story takes place way after the Zentradi war, and the Alus (SDF-1). However also in the mix of the story is Sharon Apple a promised A.I., also supposively the new virtual singer which brings peach. However, founder of Sharon Apple tricks the audience, due to incompletion of the A.I. chip, hires Myung a mutual ex-girlfriend of Isamu. Myung's controlling of the A.I. eventually leads Sharon to learn her emotions of the past. Sharon eventually is given a chip which makes her a full A.I. Both UNS and the founder of Sharon release Sharon Apple's debut which ends up controlling Macross and its people. Isamu and Guld utilize their newly tested Valkyre fighters to combat the new uncontrollible A.I. Isamu continues to save Myung from Sharon Apple. The graphics on this movie are done very well. If you own the Robotech series, you'll notice how this 1999 release has improved utilizing computer graphics.
