ストリートキッズのマイクは路上に立ち、中年男性に体を売っては日々暮らしていた。彼には緊張すると睡眠発作を起こす持病がある。マイクの親友は、市長の息子でありながら、父に反抗して家を飛び出してきた男娼仲間のスコット。ある日マイクは、彼を捨てた母を捜すため、スコットとともにバイクで兄リチャードが暮らす故郷アイダホへと向かう。そこで得た手掛かりを元にアメリカの大地、そしてイタリアまで旅する２人。しかしそこにはすでに母親の姿はなかった。そして、スコットがイタリアで出会った少女と恋に落ちたことから２人の道が分かれて行くのだった。
