　　If two's company and three's a crowd, four can be fairly catastrophic....Frank, an out-of-work actor, is constantly engaged in a game of one-upmanship with his friend Daniel, a successful young music executive with an eye for a pretty face and a lifestyle to die for. Caught somewhere in the middle is long suffering Laurence, referee, peacemaker, and not without problems of his own. Returning to London from a business trip, Daniel meets Martha, a beautiful young American woman on a one-way ticket to a new life. By the time the plane touches down he's totally smitten. Martha evades Daniel, but by strange coincidence meets Laurence and then Frank, who also fall under the spell of this elusive woman. Martha then puts two and two together and, not surprisingly, comes up with four....
