A movie which awakens and challenges your mind.

Not a science-fi or action packed movie goer,usually opting for light hearted romance/comedy I was invited to see the 2nd Matrix movie Reloaded without seeing or knowing anything of the 1st one.I have to admit it was dinner before the movie and guilt for dragging this man to several of my type of movies which made my decision.He gave me a 5min debrifing of the first matrix and within in the first few min of Reloaded i was captivated.Never has a movie started & continued where your mind has to think,question, answer & be entertained even after the curtain has closed.That night all I could do was discuss the movie with my friend about all the different threads which weave this brillant master piece together.He was surprised that I even under stood it.In fact I saw so much more in the movie than he did!You have to look deeper & in between the lines to even begin to scratch the surface of the meaning of this movie.Within a few days I had hired the 1st movie & watching it for the 2nd time my 17yr old daughter questioned me as to what I saw in it as she couldn't get it.When I explained to her what I saw she then became facinated & saw the movie differently.To me theres corralations between different religious beliefs as well as life philosophies.Let's face it, if we all knew our lifes journey would we follow that path?Another question the movie raises is "will machines take over".Why not?Lets look how we cope with a power failure for a few hours!Every time I watch these movies I see more into it.It's a great conversation topic especially with others who see similar things as I did or encouraging others who didnt "get it" to go back & look at in another way.[I'm revenue raising ]In fact my daughters bought me the dvds Matrix & Reloaded for Christmas.and can't wait for Revolutions to come out. I never knew who any of the 'stars' were but now I do, especially Keanu Reeves.After going back over his earlier work this has definetly been his finest & an award of some discription would have been justifiable.I wonder what they all got out of the movie.The Wachowski brothers deserve a huge mention as they had they had the wisdom & foresight to put it together so every one could be either entertained , baffled by brilliance or challenged & enlightened.These movies are part of history. |
