Huh?! Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
What`s happened to Aya? The Omoi Afurete album took a bit of time to get used to, but eventually, I was able to see (hear) that it was a really well-crafted creation with several strong songs, although it was different from Aya`s former albums. Now here comes the concert on DVD and, well, to be honest, I`m scratching my head, wondering what the heck has happened to the Aya I knew and loved. Appearing on a solemn - looking stage, dressed in black, she presents one of the most downbeat shows I`ve ever seen, not only from a H!P artist but from any artist. It is evident that Aya now considers her period as an H!P cutie over and done with and now wants to be dramatic, intense and cool on stage. Her stare is piercing and her act is much tougher than before. Problem is, it`s tough to watch as well. Looking rail - thin and grim, Aya seems not to enjoy herself half as much as before, although you cannot fault her strong, melodic voice or the excellent material. Sure, those things must and shall count for something. Musically, few can best this girl, but changing her image so radically was, I think, a mistake. Aya has taken a lot of flack over the years for her cutesy style and maybe she felt she had to change in order to be taken seriously. But I firmly believe you can develop and grow as an artist without becoming unrecognizable. To me, she is largely unrecognizable now, but dear me, tastes are different and someone is bound to like, even love this. Just count me out.
