July 19, 2007 Just a bare pass!I pay more attention to this singer after seeing great promotion of her by the Gold Label Co., and bought her cd. But after listening to it I feel sorry to have to say that at present Kary Ng is not ready to soar yet. She has a voice but the quality is not fine. She tries to put sentiment into her songs but then it results in strigent note projection. She can sing a medium high range but the voice lacks timbre or elasticity. There is no real passion in it, either!
I believe she can make some progress if she works hard for two or three years. Even then, she is the best among the four remaining "Cookies"! There is no doubt about it.

July 5, 2007 So touching, heavenly music!It's the sixth time after I listened to Ivana wong's new album "Read My Senses" that I feel compelled to write another opinion article on it. I am not a very great fans of Ivana because I am a busy working person, but I must thank Ivana here because the beautiful and touching songs written and sung by her is a remedy to heal my tired body and soul, especially after a long day's work!
I recommend to all music lovers around the world that you MUST listen to Ivana's Love Duet "手望" in which Hins Cheung sings as the ghost who comes back to visit his lover. The exquisitively beautiful melody, coupled by their most hearty and sentimental singing, will draw your tears once you immense in the song! All songs are unique and moving in this album. But I recommend that you listen with your heart to track 1 (真心話), 3 (重見家園), 6 (想愛不相愛), 7 (手望), 10 (畫意), 11 (雷電!), 12 (一秒感動), 13 (巴黎沒有摩天輪), 15 (一輩子愛你), 16 (我真的受傷了), and 17 (是一個誤會沒甚麼可悲)! It is the first experience in my life that I have to immediately repeat the album many times once I turn on the CD player! Listening to Ivana's songs is a gifted joy, a heavenly calming and charming psychological experience; I have experienced, and I wish the whole world music lovers can share this joyful and wonderful experience in music appreciation!! Get the album, experience it yourself, don't miss the chance! Enjoy it alone, or with your friends together, the feeling is equally splendid!!

先不說這張"新曲加精選"如何抵買, 單是聽這位出色的唱作天使的誠意創新之作"面具"的低回婉轉, "真心話"的清澈無塵, "重見家園"的真摯感人, 和"一輩子愛你"的深情婉約, 不同的創作, 不同的意境, 不同的聲音演繹, 已是值回票價! 王菀之真不愧為"香港唱作天使", 她的才華真的深不可測! "是一個誤會沒甚麼可悲" 是促使她從事音樂的得獎作品, 果然很動聽. 其他歌曲是她過去作品的精選, 與新曲放在一起別具收藏價值. 何況還有那麼多首DVD 送, 真是滿足視聽! 超值之出品,任何人都不應錯過! 這張唱片亦是王菀之首次用大頭封面設計, 很藝術, 很美, 效果出乎意料的好!

December 4, 2006 Excellent and Beautiful!!In this exquisite new album Ivana Wong once again shows her heavenly and powerful singing in the ten new original songs composed by her. Her voice is crystal-like, pure and angelic as ever, and this time she added more melodic qualities to the beautiful songs, which make it easier for song-lovers to follow and sing with her. Renowned lyricist Master Lam Jik added artistry to the songs by writing beautiful lyrics for six songs, among which the most soul-gripping and enlightening is the song "Have You Ever Heard of Van Gogh?"(畫意). This song is so splendid and touching that it definitely will become an international hit in future! Another song "Distant Love" (想愛不相愛) is so beautiful and moving that it has been chosen to be the title-song for the famous Japanese film "A litre of Tears" Cantonese version (日本名電影"一公升眼淚" 廣東話版主題曲). This time the cd includes some very melodic and happy songs in dancing mood like "Flying With My Love" (與愛人飛) and "Melted Clock" (溶了鐘的時間) which was composed under the inspiration of famous Spanish artist Dali in his painting "The persistence of Memory". December 4, 2006 Most Touching and Beautiful CDIvana Wong's singing is well known to fans in Hong Kong as well as Southeast Asia as very beautiful and exquisite! Her voice has such gentle and pure qualities that many music lovers signify her singing with heavenly and angelic music, "It's one in a billion!" so they say! In this cd, Ivana shows again her crystal-like voice, skillful breath control, clear diction, and powerful dynamics in singing the ten new and original songs composed by her. She also writes lyrics for some of the songs. Lyrics written by the legendary lyricist Mr. Lam Jik has added artistic quality to the songs. Besides,the beautiful and modern painting painted by the renowned Korean-born American artist Jeana Sohn is an added beauty. This serves as the cover-picture of the cd container as well as the cd itself. The painting can even be put up on a wall like a real painting, as a hole is provided at the back.
In this cd, Ivana's musical talent is once again displayed in the beautiful melodies that convey powerful emotions in different levels. On top of her angelic singing Ivana has added power to her singing to help stand out the gripping feelings of some songs, the most prominent being track 2 "Have You Heard Of Van Gogh?" (畫意) and track 5 "Happiness" (幸福). Ivana is an expert in singing melodic romantic songs, which makes the songs very touching: track 3 "In Paris", (巴黎沒有摩天輪), tract 6 "Distant Love" (想愛不相愛 - 熱門日本電影"一公升眼淚" 廣東話版主題曲), track 8 "Starry Night" (滿天星), "Hating" (恨也講資格), and track 10 "Love You So Much" (我很愛你). "Flying With My Love" (與愛人飛) is a happy song with dancing mood, very rhythmic and light-spirited. "Melted Clock" (溶了鐘的時間)inspired by the famous Spanish artist Dali's painting "The Persistence of Memory, is a jazz-like dancing song with a breezy and carefree mood.
All songs are very pleasing to listen to, with diversified styles and beauty. Coupled with the highly structured lyrics of Master Lam Jik, and the beautiful painting of Jeana Sohn, this cd is very valuable and a treasure to keep! December 2, 2006 美徹寰宇, 生生不息的歌聲 - 王菀之我是流著淚重聽又重聽這隻唱片的! 感覺太美了! '畫意' 寫梵高一生悲慘但仍堅持為世人帶來光明色彩, 已是教人震撼, '巴黎沒有摩天輪' 寫愛侶根本沒法/沒能力一起去旅行, 只能靠合起雙眼幻想同遊巴黎, 在摩天輪上,答應下嫁, 但...原來巴黎是沒有摩天輪的啊...於是...夢醒了, 啊, 原來只是一個不能成真的淒美的夢!...我想到我自己的遭遇..現在我打這電腦時眼淚也流了下來! 王菀之的歌聲太真, 太美了!
然後轉一個畫面, 看著西班牙名畫家達利的名畫'溶了鐘的時間', 一種懶洋洋, 自由自在的感覺填滿心神, 無比的舒服輕鬆. 怎麼王菀之唱這種像jazz 的軟軟輕輕很浪漫的音樂又是那麼傳神的呢? 這小妮子真了不起!
好了, 緊張的時刻到了, 是感人的大受歡迎日本電影"一公升眼淚"廣東版主題曲"想愛不相愛" 的時刻了. 我還未看過這套電影, 因為好像12月7日才上演, 但周邊的朋友每星期天必定在TVB 追看, 那殘弱, 溫柔而堅強的女主角'亞也'與頑疾搏鬥的真實故事太振奮人心了! 王菀之這首歌聽說不是專誠為這套電影而寫的, 但歌聲中散發的堅忍意志和淡淡哀愁,却又那麼淒美地與電影的氛圍不謀而合. 太動人了!
'與愛人飛' 和 '滿天星' 是兩首愛情小品, 旋律優美, 易聽易學, '與愛人飛' 很有趣輕鬆, 那些人聲伴唱該是 Ivana 唱的吧, 相當高音啊! '滿天星'太好聽太甜蜜了, 應該會成為K 場大熱的. 咦, 原來王菀之也識作K歌的, 作得還真的不錯!
"幸福' 和 '恨也講資格' 比起其他歌曲是比較難唱, 但旋律好聽, 感情也很深, 王菀之對於這種感情的無耐拿捏得很好!
但不旋踵, 我的眼淚又要流下了, 好一首"我好愛你"! 那種虛無縹緲, 無邊思念的歌聲又觸動了心絃..."開心因我望遠處, 傷心因約定太遠...我好愛你..." 輕輕地, 我想起從前的好朋友, 不知不覺地, 眼淚又滲了出來...
幸好, 一首輕快簡單的'詩情're-mix, 把我從懷想帶回現實,
輕輕柔柔的歌聲助我尋回快樂, 真的, '其實快樂不需要甚麼收獲...' 真好!
就是這些音樂畫面與印象令我覺得王菀之這隻'詩情畫意'百聽不厭. 我的情緒隨她的歌聲起伏, 深深被歌辭的意境所牽引著, 那種感動長久不散. 質素這麼好的一隻原作大碟的面世, 林夕的一級詞工當然功不可沒, 王菀之的辛勤和努力也應該獲得支持和肯定.
七隻mv 製作普通, 看得出是唱片公司錢不多, 但勝在音樂美, 歌手美, 聲音美, 意境美, 確是'四美歸一'! 更難得的是美藉韓國畫家繪畫的一幅畫, 雖然畫中一男一女抱著在手中的好像是一隻死去的鳥兒, 他/她們的面容不開心, 但倘真如此, 我反而認為這是代表重生與希望, 象徵著王菀之的歌曲生生不息! 充滿生機!
差點忘了說, 只用了90塊錢便得到無尚的音樂享受和珍貴難得的禮物, 我是多麼的感謝和快樂啊!!

November 28, 2006 真正的音樂!陳奕信是香港少數懂音樂識唱歌愛唱歌既歌手之一, 尤其是唱 live! 因為係真才實料, 不靠後台盲目吹捧! 呢隻碟保持一貫高水準! "裙下之臣", "富士山下" 好有揮耍自如感覺, 編曲好好聽! 但我更喜歡"不如不見"呢首好有味道, "心深傷透" 新穎得意! 呢隻碟係近排最高水準, 喜歡好音樂者必買之選!

November 26, 2006 兩首好聽呢隻碟有兩首K 歌可以聽吓. 其他無話可說. 黎明fans 應該會支持佢既! 作為中文歌曲歌手, 衛蘭如果廣東話咬字正些, 鼻音少些, 和努力了解歌詞知道自己唱緊乜, 咁都會有前途0既.

November 24, 2006 有風格但有待改善!可能因有韓國血統關係, 衛蘭在新一代歌手中樣子較靚, 所以受歡迎. 她唱英文歌聲音不錯, **除了是今次的 "Do You Know", 她番唱外國的"Do You Know Where You're Going To", 但比原唱者差得太遠! **尢其是上一隻碟的 "My Love, My Fate", 她番唱韓劇"海豚灣之戀" 主題曲, 差不多照足原唱者唱法, 但功力還是差一大橛! (在 HMV 應該買倒這隻韓劇主題曲精選! 好聽好多!).
中文歌方面, 平心而論她已盡力! 對一個完全不識中文或中國文化, 唱中文歌靠拼音的歌手來說, 我們真的不能要求太多! 如果踫啱作得好聽的歌她也算吸引, 例如"心亂如麻" 便不錯 (當然要聽慣她的嚴重鼻音!). 我覺得不能將她的歌藝矮化但也決不宜將她神化, 兩者都不真實! 如果她回韓國發展唱韓國歌, 可能唱得(和聽得)無咁辛苦!
這隻碟我給兩粒半星:一粒給編曲, 一粒給歌詞, 半粒給歌聲因為真的不那麼吸引.

November 24, 2006 平庸但 OK !黎明這隻新碟像他一故給人的印象: 平庸但OK! 意思是無論怎樣包裝也永遠不會有驚喜, 但却不會太差. 他的風格很溫和安全, 但缺乏藝術張力, 感情位也不多. 這張album聽得出準備時間不夠, 可能太多時間花在公司四位天資不高的artists身上了, 累了自己!
黎明全盛時期是拍"三更"的時段, "三更" 可能是有陳可辛的關係, 我一看再看三看, 一樣感動, 還介紹很多人看! 那時的黎明光芒四射! 此後已趨沈寂.
平心而論, 黎明應該努力拍戲, 先天聲線關係, 唱歌是差不多飽和了, 不會再突破, 事業點心而已!

October 10, 2006 優美感動的拉濶!自2005 年我開始留意唱作才女王菀之, 被她的才情氣質和溫婉動人的歌聲所吸引. 之後又留意倒她努力的成績, 作給別人的歌曲, 和幾場準確無瑕的拉闊演出, 包括與張敬軒, 張信哲, 劉德華, 李克勤...等的拉闊音樂會, 每次水準甚高, 除聲音甜美清澈外, 中英語文俱佳, 音準, 吐字, 呼吸控制, 感情演繹一流! 而張敬軒唱功深厚, 投入感強, 很吸引! 我買了這張vcd, 聽完又聽, 無比享受! 一定會買埋dvd, 因為質素更好. 如果你喜愛真正優美動人的歌曲, 這張dvd/vcd 一定不能錯過! 我特別喜愛"手望"合唱, 小心易碎, 李香蘭, 氣球, 過雲雨, Blessing. 其實全部都好好!

August 8, 2006 A good beginning
After listening to a couple of Vincy's songs and her interview on the radio, I am convinced that she is the best new female singer of this year. I believe she will grab a couple of prizes for new singers at the end of this year. I agree that Vincy has got a well-trained and nice voice. Her singing technique is well controlled, especially when singing long and light medium high notes. But to be honest I have not, up to date, found a charming or heart-touching quality in her singing apart from good voice and trained vocal abilities, which sometimes is too showy. May be that is the reason why she cannot compare with unique new artists of 2005 such as Janice and Ivana Wong. However, I think Vincy has potential to be a good female artist as she's got the talent and voice. Add oil!

July 18, 2006 越聽越激賞的唱片今年(2006)的樂壇新人不如往年出色。 近來聽新作品全部都平凡， 無驚喜， 有點悶。 再聽Ivana Wong 呢隻唱片， 就覺得完全不同， 感覺喺番度！ 真係越聽越覺得Ivana特別好， 無得彈！ 希望快出第三隻啦！

July 7, 2006 A New Diva for Hong Kong!Recently I have several chances of hearing Ivana Wong live in performing on stage! Wow!! She is just perfect in voice, diction, feeling, and expressions! I am completely convinced that she is the new diva of Canto and Mandarin pop music in Hong Kong. Waiting earnestly for her third album!!!

March 23, 2006 Janice is just OK because of language
I think Janice got a sweet voice and she sings with feeling. Definitely one of the goods new singers in HK today. I believe she works very hard as she cannot read or understand Chinese, just like last week, when she recorded the song in TVB with other 50 singers, she could not even read the simplest Chinese words and had to ask the guy next to her!! I think that is why she sings life performance with so much difficulty and with such a strange voice whenever on stage. May be she should improve her Cantonese and Mandarin in order to progress further. SP

January 25, 2006 Gold Awards for Ivana!!It is to most HK peoples'dismay that Ivana was not awarded a Gold prize for most promising new Female Artist in the Canto Pop music scene! Ivana is so talented: a heart-touching singer song-writer who also plays the piano so beautifully! Her voice is pure and beautiful; she sings superbly both in recording and life performance. Whereas Janice Vidal, who does not read or understand Chinese at all, who speaks English in interviews, who asks people to translate the words into Cantonese sounds in order to sing them, whose life performances are Always Disappointing-sometimes inaudible with hoarseness, sometimes singing to a pre-recorded tape as in TVB Prize-giving Concert which everybody saw clearly!! - but alas! SHE GOT ALL THE GOLDS, Mama mia!!
What is the standard for judging? We don't know. From record sales? Well, once you got a Gold your record sale will go up because people want to know whether you are that good. Janice got 3 Golds so record sales rose 3 times nauturally. Is it political in nature? We don't know. Many people in Hong Kong feel angry but will not say it because they know it is no use. Could the competition be controlled by a few people in radio or TV? Again we don't know. Many people only say that Leo Lai had a clever calculation and this time his tactic wins!
But keep it up, Ivana, we all know that you are the best female new artist! Your have written twenty-seven songs last year - ten for other Pop singers many of which were no. 1 on Chart! - and seventeen for your two records which you produced within half a year! Your songs touch the hearts of so many people, making them smile or cry with quiet relief. Do not lose faith in your musical endeavor. I am sure you will shine in the musical scene all over Asia, even to the whole world. Afterall, you got 8 awards all in all and that is phenomenal for a new artist! We love you! SP

December 20, 2005 ? Awards fixed already?to Philip Wong: I read from a magazine whcih said that most rewards of prize giving ceremony are already fixed. It said Ivana got may be two awards?? I don't know whether it is right?? Anyway, it is still OK to have at least 1 or 2 awards because I think Ivana deserves it! But I don't know about broadcast in Australia. May be you can search the net. ?? I am Ivana's forever fans, no matter she gets awards. I am hoping she will make more records in 2006. it is good to have at least one record in Mandarin. I love her Mandarin songs. She is beautiful! We all love Ivana!!
