April 8, 2008 dissapointedThis is the 3rd movie of Jay I've watched and sadly this one is the one he has the least expression ever, and the supporting characters weren't explained enough for me to care about them. I think it was cut down way too much. I watched the film with a friend and we both were scratching our head to figure out the disjointment of the plot... I watched this film twice, once a long and the other time with a Caucasian friend. Wuthout telling him much of the 'backbone' of History period, he had a hard time following the story, and he had less enjoyable time with part of the music that sounded soo innapropriate to the movie.
I also watched some of the features on the 2nd discs, I was surprised how the Director was talking about how he wanted an 'epic' styled film, yet, the camera works and the angles he shot this film with didn't show that 'epic'ness many scenes can be done in sound stage because of the close up they used.
Also, there's one annoying thing on the whole movie, one scene you see everyone in a correct viewing ratio, at the other time, the same scene with different angles, the character would be long (stretched) and then at one other angle, they are 'fat'
I felt cheated by the film's editing and director's 'fake' epictorial feel.
After watching this twice and what I've seen from The New Police Story, I think that New Police Story is much better film (overall).Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
