Kojima Hideo's Metal Gear Solid for the original PlayStation is an established video game classic, allowing players to take on the role of legendary hero Solid Snake as he battles it out with Liquid Snake, his venomous twin brother. In the original MGS, Solid Snake was dispatched to Shadow Moses Island to take down the rogue FOXHOUND unit led by Liquid, save the hostages, and put an end to the devastating war machine known as Metal Gear Rex. Spawning three sequels (including the forthcoming MGS4), the game proved so popular that it was re-released as a special edition, complete with extended VR missions, and was later even given a facelift on Nintendo's Game Cube under a new title, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Now Kojima and Konami are revisiting the events of Shadow Moses once more with Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel, a.k.a. Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessinee.

A PSP-exclusive, Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel utilizes IDW Publishing's own Metal Gear Solid comic book series (complete with drawings from series artist Ashley Wood) to create a one-of-a-kind digital graphic novel, complete with layered animations, an atmospheric score, and bone-crunching sound effects. Each segment of Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel is given its own chapter, allowing gamers to watch the thrilling saga unfold just as it did in IDW's comic book. But this isn't just a comic directly ported to the PSP; there's more to it than meets the eye! The Digital Graphic Novel is composed of three modes: VR Simulation mode, Mental Search mode, and Memory Building Simulation mode. The VR Simulation mode is the startup mode, running some two hours in length. At any time during the story, players can switch to Mental Search Mode, which allows them to discover more than three hundred separate points of interest, including people, locations, items, and themes as depicted in the MGS saga. Once all the hidden goodies are uncovered, players can make use of Memory Building Mode to gain a better understanding of the larger Metal Gear Solid storyline.
