Metal Gear Online (Japan Version) PS3

The saga of Solid Snake may have ended with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, but you don't have to say goodbye to Metal Gear yet! Metal Gear Online brings the a whole new dimension to the seminal stealth action franchise, with players hopping online to sneak and shoot to their hearts' content. Up to sixteen players can participate in a number of online challenges, including Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes. Capture Missions require players to capture objects and hold onto them for 30 seconds to score points, while Rescue Mission requires players to defend objects for a period of time. Base Mission requires teams to take over numerous "base" locations on the map to claim victory. Similar to many of the team-based online first-person shooters, players will have access to many different weapons and ways of wreaking havoc on fellow players.

However, this is a Metal Gear game, so it possesses many unique features setting it apart from the pack. Besides the presence of Solid Snake and other Metal Gear characters, some of which can be unlocked via downloadable expansion packs, the game possesses an emphasis on stealth. Sneaking Mission requires a single player to take on the role of Solid Snake to obtain 3 dog tags from other players, while remaining quiet and undetected. Meanwhile, the other players battle each other, while making sure that Snake doesn't get the drop on them. Metal Gear Online also possesses the trademark detail of Kojima Hideo's series, with CQC (Close Quarters Combat) and nanomachines playing a part. The Metal Gear series has long been one of gaming's most advanced and innovative, and the Online version looks to continue the tradition.
